QOL uploaded my latest article, which documents the making of the A Kind Of Magic album.

Part 2 coming soon.
Enjoy!

Was this proof read ?(not blaming yourself) First paragraph spelling mistake

"The band had rehearsed and refined the performance at the Shaw Theatre in London and when they finally stood on the Live Aid stage, they gave it everything they had. Each member of the band was indelibly marked by the experienced (surely should say experience?) and would embark on one of their most ambitious and productive years as a result.

Checked my original copy and the mistake was mine. Oh well. I find mistakes in books and newspapers all the time. They happen.

It's pretty much impossible to proof your own stuff without time and distance. You read what you expect to see.

Exactly. You reread the same the sentences over and over and your mind just skims it.

I do know that the original sentence in an earlier draft was "what they experienced...", so when I changed it, I missed that "d".

I wrote to the administrator to see if he could correct it on his end.

Ditto! AKOM was the first Queen album I bought, because I loved Highlander.

FYI rhyeking, re Butterfly becoming Some Things That Glitter, BM himself (apparently) confirmed this to Wilki that posts here.

But, now that I've found the thread where he mentions that, I guess you knew that already and decided against confirming the link in your article for whatever reason.

Since I couldn't find specific confirmation of "Butterfly" becoming STTG, I decided to just leave the suggestion open and say it was possible. Not that I don't trust Wilki, but I like to cross-reference details if I can't find a direct quote from the band or someone who works/worked with them, like David Richards, Mack, whomever. The reason being is that Queen fandom has been wrong about things, myself included (KYA Long Lost Re-take, "Celebration"...). New information surfaces periodically which changes our understanding and knowledge. I felt that the research I did on the article was strong enough to be of value to fans interested in how AKOM came to be, so I didn't want to undermine the facts I *could* verify with anything that could be considered now or later as either too speculative or out-and-out wrong.

So, yeah, that's why it reads as non-committal.

I didn't realise Freddie recorded In My Defense in 85!

Great article.

Nice read, thanks for the effort ! that´s definitely the kind of detailed information that should be included in the project we all been craving for years.

Thanks, everyone! I'm glad everyone's enjoying it and finding it informative.

One of the interesting things I discovered while researching it was that Roger and Freddie had a fight (John's words) about including "One Vision" on the The Complete Works boxed set. I thought that was the sort of detail that gives the back story of the album and the box some more character.

An update on the spelling mistake, QOL corrected it for me. Thanks for pointing it out!

Who was for including One Vision and who was against? Do you know?
