I'll assume that you have all read this at Bri's Soapbox:

QUEEN AND ADAM … THE BEST SHOW ?

Well, I think we all felt the last couple nights in Hammersmith have been a moment of significance. In fact, perhaps especially last night. The band, as it is now, seems suddenly to have switched into a higher gear - more confident, having more fun … and stepping into new territory … an amazing thought at this stage in our lives and in our careers … to be honest, I would never have thought it possible before this journey with Adam Lambert began.

Adam has his own style and path, and there was never any intention that he would be 'another Freddie" - but there are many parallels, in the mechanisms which we've already developed - coming together as an organic band.

It's very pure - having no extra guitarist means I am back in the old place, as in the Old Days, completely responsible for holding up the 'wall' of sound, but also completely free to control the dynamics and 'feel', working more or less as a four-piece - something which is only possible because Adam is such a strong pivot and front-man. No backing singers - no dancers - it's pure - somehow it feels like Rock ought to be … … dangerous and stimulating. It's completely - real. In this epoch of auto-tune and hard discs on stage, that's pretty rare these days.

And everybody seems to be having fun. Including … totally … US!

Many thanks to you guys in the Hammersmith audience - no bunch of rockers could be more supportive and inspiring. The view above is something nobody else sees … it's from Pete Malandrone … my intrepid and unflappable Guitar Tech - this is the amazing sight from the Apollo (Odeon) stage - you guys are beautiful !!
Love
Bri

This is line is where it's at for me:

"The band, as it is now, seems suddenly to have switched into a higher gear - more confident, having more fun … and stepping into new territory … an amazing thought at this stage in our lives and in our careers … to be honest, I would never have thought it possible before this journey with Adam Lambert began."

I am thrilled for them all and I hope it continues leading them into new territory, and even new material. I am genuinely sorry for those of you here who are unable for whatever reason to share in this feeling.

Adam Lambert wants to make an album with Queen.
The former 'American Idol' contestant has been singing with the group live in place of the late Freddie Mercury this summer, and is keen to record new material with original members Brian May and Roger Taylor.
When asked by UK radio station Capital FM if he would make a record with the group, he said: 'Yeah, I mean, I would love to work with them in any capacity in the future. I don't think I would turn any offer down.
'I mean, they're amazing! I don't know what it would be, but hey!'

I can't believe the way people react to a headline without reading the interview. Adam Lambert does not say "I want to record an album with Queen"

It's amazing how much crap one person can generate for themselves without actually saying what they're accused of

My interpetation of that news item is that Lambert wants to re-record A Night at the Opera with his vocals instead of Fred's, and he wants it re-released under the new title "ADAM LAMBERT & queen's A Night at the Opera."
"Queen is the only band in the world that can play so heavily that your nose bleeds, then offer a silk handkerchief to clean up with."

If thats true, if that is what he wants, I really would like to know why? It's already been done and perfectly. Go on and make new music with Brian and Roger (and now I wont even call them Queen, for they are no longer in my mind) Honestly, truely, it isn't about pettiness for me. It's a heartsick feeling inside that Brian and Roger are tampering with something that is perfect already. Leave it be! Some say not about money? riiiigght. Deluted thinking. How could anyone ever say it isnt about ego and money? I now truely do see Brian and Roger in a different light and not a good one.

No, hadn't read that one, thanks for posting. I don't care what Brian says. I am a Queen fan, I will always be a Queen fan. As far as I can see the "live" sound of Queen is gone. I'm so glad I experienced QE. For the hundredth time,QE is very respectful in all ways of Queen legacy and was fabulous. I'm one who feels Freddie made Queen. Ok sure, it took all four however, if Freddie had survived and one or more of the others been gone, I feel Freddie would still be brilliant on his own. Brian and Roger have had how long to make musical history on their own? Point proven. I gain more respect for John Deacon, he knew and knows who Queen is.

@Missreclusive I think Holly2003's interpretation is just a joke since in the interview AL says that he'd love to work with Queen in any capacity without specifically mentioning an album. ;-)

I really don't think it's about money for Brian and Roger, or at least not totally about money. If it was only about money, they could just sit at home and let projects like WWRY and QE and merchandise from the archives rake in the dough for them.

it's like Paul and Ringo teaming up with a teeny pop star and re-recording Abbey Road or something. silly, isn't it? and not to mention, totally useless!

I don't know what to think anymore, I'm just scared of all this post-Freddie and Deacy stuff. didn't fancy the Paul Rodgers era either...

@AdamM, thanks for that. I honestly cant even watch the interview! LOL. I mean he pretty much turns my stomach over. Isn't that sort of sad? I mean, it suprizes me at how I feel about the entire thing. Call all psychologists! I have to laugh at myself here. I do feel if not about money, its very ego driven for Brian and Roger. None of us can know what's inside of them. They love making music, so be brilliant (if you really are) and go make something new and great! Maybe that will be the intention with the AL collaberation....good luck with that. Yes, AL has a big enough fanbase to carry it. Stop tampering with something that's already been done unless you are going to "accurately" put it out there...as Roger did with QE.

Thank you for that, I obviously agree and have been rather long-winded on the subject.

@Missreclusive glad we agree but we can only wait for this Lambert era to end

in the meantime, another prove why Adam shouldn't be fronting Queen, let alone re-recording a new album with Bri and Rog

starts at 0:30  "what's the guitar players name?"

really how sad is this

Pretty sad. Just like Glamberts claim to be long standing Queen fans? I think they will say anything. Ah yes, riding out the Lambert era, how long can that be factoring in age of Brian and Roger?

There aren't enough buckets for such massive puking.

I remember this, and was rather horrified at the time, but a lot was going on in his life after Idol and anyone can get a mental block. I'm no spring chicken and believe me I see a lot of faces but the names defy me! lol! I guess if Brian wasn't too offended then it is all water under the bridge.

I was an Adam fan until he shot himself in the foot at those music awards with that unfortunate performance and then when I heard about the first song on his album enhanced with autotune................I bailed. If you were to go back in the archives here you would see my disenchantment assert itself. I have still wished him well, but was disengaged until I saw this Queen + Adam thing in my Brian May news items.
