Just heard on Planet Rock, Jon Lord has passed away

Rest in Peace Lordy. So many great tunes, loved the interplay between him and Ritchie in Purple

although never really into whitesnake, saw them twice in the 80s when he and paicey played with Cov. also saw the Purple reunion gig in 85 at knebworth, and loved Lordy's classical arrangements - esp the Difficult to Cure (Beethoven's 9th)with Blackmore...with crappy 80s laser accompanyment...

rest in peace, you'll be very sadly missed

for anyone (too young to know much about him)....here's a little postscript from my original post....
load up youtube, and search against
Deep Purple - Child In Time
Deep Purple - Highway Star
Deep Purple - Hard Lovin' man
and just immerse yourself in the greatness of possibly the greatest rock keyboard player ever...stunning does not do the man justice.

also, in case you're not into purple, here's some tunes he played on:
kinks - you really got me
nazareth - Shanghai'd in Shanghai
whitesnake - fool for your lovin'
grahmam bonnet - night games
george harrison - circles
albums by cozy powell, david gilmour and others

sad fact of life is that as i reach my stage of life (50 next week)...most of my idols are of an age that their time may be coming. and far too many of them we'll never see their like or talent again

There was only about 5 or 6 true pioneers of the B-3.... and John Lord was one of 'em.  RIP.

Happy early birthday!

Although it's a shame that so many of these musical geniuses are getting old and possibly dying, I can't say I relate to you.
