Olympics Closing Ceremonys

So are Queen + Adam Lambert playing during the closing ceremonies or not? By now wouldn't it been announced already since they're taking place in about a week? I've seen other musical groups mentioned but not Queen.

Trying to find a shit to give...... still looking.... nope, not there.... lets look in this drawer... nope.....

In the fanclub magazine which I received today, Brian writes in his letter:
...Roger and I are now preparing ourselves mentally for an appearance in the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games, which was supposedly a secret but it's definitely well 'leaked' by now! Every day a new adventure..."

So yes, Brian and Roger will be playing :-)

No, Adam Lambert won't be at the closing ceremonies which are restricted to British performers only. Jessie J will be fronting Queen instead.

Where do they draw the line though - McCartney's drummer for instance is American, so you could justify Lambert in the same way, as he would just be 'a band member' with a British act, Queen?

But he's not just a band member. He's billed as Queen + Adam Lambert, which specifically emphasizes that he's not part of Queen. Plus he primarily works as a solo artist, not as singer for Queen. My guess is that if McCartney wanted Eddie Van Halen to play in his band, they'd object to that too.

Quite frankly Brian and Roger doing We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions is not very exciting.Far better to give some young bands a chance to shine.

Well according to Roger wife's twitter account they are on vacation in Mykanos. Don't think they are rehearsing or performing. I think what you saw on opening ceremonies was their contribution. My guess.

But I guess if they were. They have all next week to be ready for only a couple songs.
