I think that the older material will be issued but only when someone from the group died. Death and grief are monea makers. Unfortunately this is a fact!

I think this post from the Queen online forum clears up what happened to the camera rushes.
Re: Queen In Budapest 1986 Blu-ray for October?

To make everyone again completely updated and clear on Budapest (and i have to repeat this every 3 years as people dont remember and make up stories: In 2004 I was asked by QPL to make enquiries about the location and existence of both the final and the not used negatives (had written authorization by QPL.. signed by the big boss in Montreux). Went back to a certain archivist in 2005, with news about the existing negative of the FINAL version - > I was told "yes thank you great". Asked GB many times, he never could tell me how far the negotiations went. The final negative film is in the possession of the Hungarian State Film Archives (they were also offering state of the art HD transfer (4K / DaVinci etc), but I was never informed about the negotioations which either happened or not until today. THe Hungarian State owns the film negative, but QPL owns the rights to release it so neither of them can do anything without agreeing with each other. (my guess is that by 2012 they have already agreed and QPL might have now a HD transfer , ready for blu ray release).
as for ALL the unused footage (that means 16 kilometers of film or something similar, i was told), now that is a sad story. I did speak with 2 of the editors, they confirmed they had actually kept ALL the reels in their office until 1996 just in case sometime somebody picks it up (and no one came from QPL obviosuly) . In 1997 part of the major state studio complex was sold to a local commercial TV station, the editors were fired and they have now clue what happened with the reels, possibly trashed. Or they are still gathering dust somewhere on that location , or someone brought them home.
Many times in the last 8 years I sent letters to GB/QPL asking him to condider offering a reward for the reels and advertise locally, possibly among the people working there at that time(1990s) etc etc.... but QPL always refused to even think about this idea for a second. Their attitude is like "find and bring us the reels for free, or we are not interested. (And if you do, we say a huge thank you - maybe in email

"Back then"? You are talking about Queen Productions, aren't you?
It's not like they're the pinnacle of professionalism these days either. :/

I disagree, I think the 80's songs sound very much like songs from the 80's (the more synth-based tracks from The Works and Magic in particular), whilst a lot of their 70's work manages to transcend that. Rather than being a product of its time, it's timeless. The 80's shows however, at least those they've put out, do generally include more songs that are in public consciousness.

I don't really agree with that as an example. It's somewhat more reasonable that The Beatles are reissuing their films, as the majority of them aren't available in half decent quality otherwise.

"Can someone tell me why there is not any concert from the seventies (official release)."
Because one has not been officially released yet. That's all there is to it.

I'm sorry, but that's absolutely WRONG.
The 80's songs are dated now and their 70's stuff is considered to be timeless classic.

Queen's critically acclaimed albums were released between 1974-77. They're anything but dated.
The 80s stuff made a lot of money, so there will be no shortage of that. But it looks like the classic years are finally going to get the attention they deserve.

They're working on the Rainbow 74 shows next, and Rhys Thomas said a 1977 package may be in the works.

If this is true it is excellent. Now a funny question. What was the correct setlist on Rainbow. From what I have seen so far is somewhat short:
Procession
Now I'm Here
Ogre Battle
White Queen (As It Began)
In the Lap of the Gods
Killer Queen
The March of the Black Queen
Bring Back That Lero Brown
Son and Daughter
Guitar Solo
Father to Son
Keep Yourself Alive
Liar
Son and Daughter
(Reprise)
Stone Cold Crazy
In the Lap of the Gods ... Revisited
Encore:
Jailhouse Rock
(Elvis Presley cover)
God Save the Queen
Were there played some other songs. And which!
Thanks!

That's the incomplete video track listing with the fake medley (Son And Daughter, FtS, KYA, Liar, SaD reprise).
Here's the full setlist of the Rainbow shows:
Procession, Now I'm Here, Ogre Battle, Father To Son, White Queen, Flick Of The Wrist, In The Lap Of The Gods, Killer Queen, The March Of The Black Queen, Bring Back That Leroy Brown, Son And Daughter, Keep Yourself Alive, Seven Seas Of Rhye, Stone Cold Crazy, Liar, In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited, Big Spender, Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll, Jailhouse Rock, God Save The Queen
