Queen is dead?
I may be wrong, but, how can a band "being dead" and still playing for hundred of thousands of people (In the Q+PR and Q+AL gigs) keep having lots of tributes by other bands, having a huge amount of re-releases, tribute bands and media exposure, etc etc, at the same time?
I believed a dead band was a band that had great success and now nobody remembers, like The Outlaws.
Yes, Queen is dead. The "Queen + Paul Rodgers" project was really fantastic, but it was a NEW band. The "Queen + Al Lincoln" project was very painful to listen/watch, and it ALSO was a NEW band.
Re-releases and tribute bands are absolutely irrelevant - or do you consider the Beatles to be a live band ?

yes, creativity and inspiration to make new music is dead from the '90!

@Zebonka:
Well, you did a very valid points... And have to agree that lots of their stuff is awful (5ive comes to my mind) but some other collaborations have been a lot better, but I think most of the critics about Q+ are unavoidable, specially taking into consideration that many people was against the Made in Heaven album... Perhaps the whole "Queen +" era will be an endless debate...

@pittrek:
Well, perhaps I got a wrong idea about Queen being dead. When I hear that certain band/musician's "is dead" is because nobody gives a damn about their music... And Queen seems to be as famous or more famous now than in 83...
Queen: Roger Taylor, Mike Grose, Freddie Mercury, Brian May.

Someone please forward this post to Brian and Roger, quickly. They have Yaff's approval about everything Queen+ except Marc Martel. Thanks for clearing all this up, Yaff. Wish we could have had your approval before. I'm sure Brian and Roger will sleep better now. And I'm sure Marc Martel is hurt that you don't approve of him.
Yes they feel so much better about their lives now. All thanks to me. Glad I could help....asshat.

Sorry but Marc Martel is where I draw the line. I approve of him doing his own thing but not doing his Freddie vocal impressions with Queen +

Not at all! I love what Queen have been doing over the past couple of decades...ESPECIALLY "The Cosmos Rocks"! I DEFINITELY think that Marc Martell should join the group! All of the members should be replaces at some point with new young people as well!!! Owww!
ah yes I see the QE fanboy posts here too. How much you wanna bet they don't do a gig or record with Marc Martel? Seriously, what do you wager?

Sounded really great 'til the Marc Martel bit. If they did a final big tour with him it would sell big time. A few disgruntled fans would bitch, but then go to the show.

It would be a classless act and a disgrace. Brian & Roger won't do it. They didn't with Gary Mullen so why MM? I have more faith in them. It would be the final act in becoming a complete parody of themselves. WWRY musical, QE were bad enough but to pull a Journey is beneath them.

Even though I don't care for his voice I totally get why they did shows with Lambert. He's got the risque' and dangerous quality and can hit the notes without sounding like Freddie. Gary Mullen is just as good as Martel and they've known about him for years. Hell, he's "earned" it if anybody has.

I look forward to their next endeavor. Lots of great vocalists out there. Don't need no second-rate Freddie.

Personally I don't like having the Queen moniker on an album like TCR because it doesn't sound like Queen much at all. Better to say its its by somebody else so people don't have the expectation of a Queen album. I also think doing that would breathe new life into the project. No good for sales though I guess.

Had they formed a new band name the album would have fared better. The excitement of a new super-group without having to compare it to true Queen. Touring with the Queen catalog as Queen + Paul Rodgers is one thing but to record new material with the Queen name was just asking for trouble. They didn't need to call it Queen people would've known who they were just as sure as everybody knew Heaven & Hell was the Dio-fronted Black Sabbath.

Sure, they sold out shows but the stench of "The Cosmos Rocks" still lingers...in the cut-out bin.

Without the Queen Paul Rodgers tour, I would have never seen Brian or Roger live and see them so close in my life. I had the luxuary of seeing two shows, their first in NJ and then in Long Island. I wish I could ahve been old enough to see them play when Freddie was alive. I would have flown anywhere in the mid 80's to see them since they were never playing the US again. However those are just dreams and the reality is it took a new endeavor to allow me to realize a dream of mine. It was not Queen, but I loved it and honored it for what it was. Everyone knows that these projects are not what we wanted. We wanted Freddie to be alive today and the band what they did until we all died. But we accept what it is and there are various opinions on all these things they have done, but to me it benefited me. I am sure this goes for 10's of thousands of people in America just like me as well and throughout the world.

As Roger said concerning this, "Don't be a bunch of wankers!"! "The Cosmos Rocks" is one of Queen's best studio l.p.s and projects! I look forward to endless more new studio l.p.s and tours by Queen! Why is it everytime that they do something it has be declared by people "this is the last time"?! Bullshit! They are just getting going again!

Isn't Gary Mullen fat and ugly?

...and the term, "Everybody..." conceringing Heaven And Hell is entirely manipulative! I guarantee most of the six billion on Earth had no clue or cared...
