I've been intrigued for AGES at the talk of them having gone through Drowse at soundcheck before the QAL New Year's Eve gig. Was Roger singing and playing drums? Why didn't they include it in the end etc etc.
Has Roger ever sung it live in any context?
Always figured that the muffled speech at the end would have just been him talking to someone at the end of the vocal take when he thought the song would have been over, too. Might listen a bit closer now.
Roger's greatest track, imo, and one of the highlights on an already near-perfect album ADATR.
The video comes up as unavailable. But, what a great song! The lyrics are some of Roger's best, but also some of Queen's best in my opinion. It's really a very personal song in the way it describes boredom and slogging through life. It really sounds honest.
And the music and production are also fantastic. The tuple meter and the acoustic wall of sound along with the slide guitar. And the production of the vocals. All very original and capture the mood of those great lyrics.
