Hey YV, dunno if you've been on an unannounced break from overseeing the boards here, but that MEDUSA troll's been on his 3rd account now (Jones904) for QUITE some time, and I don't understand how that's gone unchecked for some time now?

Is there some limitation to fully IP banning this troll, or even getting his IP to take action on their part?? Seriously

I've been saying this for years, but if I were a mod this thing would've been taken care of weeks ago.

The "Queen Serious Discussion" would need serious cleanup too. BTW another aggressive troll "Anton" this time under account FMRTJDBM is back too

I'm the first one to defend little to no interference but that strategy depends on group cooperation and a degree of self moderation. When you've got people with no self control, little self awareness and no concern for the forum experience of other members, that is very destructive. That is when members who post regularly and in good faith trying to maintain a semblance of value in the place need help from the owner or mod. What we get more than not is seeming total disengagement, complaints lost in black holes and resounding silence. Lives evolve and people lose interest and focus. No problem. But I think it's time for the 'staff' to expand to somebody who can be a regular presence and not let freedom to speak be freedom to overwhelm the place with obsession and craziness.

I think that bannings are meaningless if someone can just start another account and not face an immediate second ban.

I guess it does kind of depend on ones opinion of what is deserving of a ban, or whether the odd cleanup of redundant threads would do enough. I'm not sure that I'd ban jpf just for posting about Kiss, but it'd make perfect sense to remove those posts from Queen related sections, and also to do something about his habit of starting more than one thread at a time. I'm pretty sure there's a couple in the Personal section right now.

This medusa prat, on the other hand - it would actually give me a perverse kind of joy to be continually banning that piece of shit.

This place has become an absolute shithole. Nearly every thread has been infiltrated by a troll.

It's like trying to enjoy a night at a dinner club but there's an idiot at every table talking about Nascar.

I'm not clear on what the moderation policy even is. Like the extended period of poor technical performance it's the inconsistency and near complete lack of communication that's discouraging. As I said previously I appreciate lots of freedom and latitude but there has to be a limit either enforced by a mod or the group. If we're going to get nothing from the moderation side maybe we need to become more disciplined as a group and just ignore this stuff to oblivion. One of the reasons it overwhelms the place so easily is the reduction of content and posters overall. We can't control the nutcases directly but we can control what we ourselves do. Why is there not more objection when people get abused on the most ridiculous premises? I can easily count a half dozen good posters who took off, it seems to me, after being screamed at or humiliated for absolutely nothing.

I agree with everything here, and although this discussion may be more appropriate for the QueenZone.com forum, I have no problem with it being here. I also like how it seems that, in general, all the most levelheaded posters on the forum seem to be on here. Running the risk of jinxing the magic, I hope it stays that way.

Yeah, I put it in Personal because unfortunately the Queenzone.com subforum gets largely ignored and takes a long time to eke out any serious responses there. Putting it here works a lot faster in this case, and certainly did a while ago with MEDUSA, since YV wasn't receiving PM notifications properly and was unaware as a result.

Yeah, it seriously can't be all that hard to get a ban in this place can it? My nephew got a ban for making some AIDS jokes (although I did put him up to it).

But at least my nephew admitted that AIDS existed and wasn't a fake government plot. Or whatever it is that medusa keeps saying.

Unfortunately, trolls on QZ never miss any meals.

I think these sorts of decisions at this time of year really should be left up to Santa, who we know has the ultimate (mistake proof) list of who has been naughty or nice. He sees you when you're posting. He knows when you're awake. He knows if you've been bad or good, so be good for Queenzone's sake. Oh, you better watch out, you better not cry.
