I hate to be a sullen ranter, but let's face the situation in all seriousness. Release-wise, the road has ended. The Deep Cuts Volumes were the eighth, ninth and tenth official compilations by the band, even if they give the causal fans a glimpse into the album tracks with a few unique edits. And in the 40th anniversary reissue program, QPL felt the need to not only give us about 80% tripe in the bonus tracks department, but also reissue GH I & II. Seriously, what the hell? And as for some of Brian's and Roger's creative decisions lately... Brian took a wrong path with 'You & I' - Lady GaGa can't be called music on principle - and Roger's delay with The Unblinking Eye is ridiculous. And with the Adam Lambert thing, are they joking? But then again, the musical landscape has landslided into bleak rubble nowadays, so they have to clutch at straws, I suppose. I won't mention the Queen Extravaganza, because others undoubtedly will. I do praise some recent things, but even an optimist like me has to admit things are looking a bit thin.

Sure, let's start up this discussion again. Why the hell not?

The idea behind the Deep Cuts CDs was a good 'un, the public deserve to hear their lesser known gems, but I agree that the execution was poor.
GH I & II needed to be reissued as they changed labels. Can you imagine Universal paying several million pounds for the rights to the Queen catalogue and then not putting the Greatest Hits albums up for sale because all the hardcore fans already have them?
After a 40 year career, I think Brian's earned the right to collaborate with anyone he wants. If you don't like the music, don't buy it. As for Roger, it's been 14 years since his last solo album, a couple more months won't make a big difference.
Personally, I can't stand Adam Lambert, but he unquestionably is a capable vocalist, and if he keeps Brian & Roger playing, then that's no bad thing.
All in all, they certainly shouldn't hang up their instruments. With a Rainbow release on the horizon, things are starting to look up!

Yes or let a Queen fan call the shots because Brian & Roger are mostly inept and clueless.

Last I heard the band belongs to Brian and Roger.

well they also had their great moments, just remember the 5ive project... also another re-release of the Rainbow show(s) is rumoured! And maybe someday they might continue their tour with Justin Bie... - ah sorry, Adam Lambert! In joyful anticipation we'll start the year 22 after the moustache :-)

Fact is, no matter how poor their decisions are, they don't owe us anything.

They don't owe us anything, just like we don't owe them anything.
Just because they've started dangling a new carrott in front of us, doesn't mean we can't criticise them for all the shit they're trying to peddle.
And let's be honest here, if were only looking forward to archive releases from 30-40 years ago, do we still need an active "band" of Brian and Roger for anything?

You and I was actually a pretty good song --and worth it see Brian ripping up the US MTV Awards with the live performance. Now Dappy? That's another matter....

I would love to see Queen live, even if Adam Lambert is singing, but i doubt a big tour it will ever happen.

Despites of all those re-re-releases the last couple of years, there were some releases i enjoyed very much. The 40 years of Queen book (for me, the best release of last year, the Days of our lives Blu-ray, The great pretender Blu-ray and the special edition of the Barcelona boxset. And i enjoyed a fare portion of the bonus tracks on the EP's last year. I mean, it was not all bad but because they've changed labels all things were released again. Let's hope for a "Rainbow" show on Blu-ray next year and maybe some other suprises. Fingers crossed.
