My Hollywood Records copy of News of the World has a serious manufacturing error i.e. the beginning of It's Late skips badly. Apparently there was a whole batch of CDs released with the fault so avoid if possible.

I personally prefer the 2001 "vinyl replicas" from Japan. I tried to like the 2011 remaster, but I can't :-( The bonus "EPs" are however pretty good.

It's Late (Hollywood Records Remaster Error) 6:24
Written by Brian May
Appears on: News of the World Hollywood Remaster (1991)
A really bad remastering error on the first pressing of the Hollywood Records release of News Of The World. Starts 2 seconds into the track mid-guitar chord. At least Hollywood fixed it for later releases.

....

If you buy it new you should be safe.  I bought it shortly after it was released in 1991 and I evidently got the 2nd pressing.

I don't find the 2011 remasters to be fatiguing at all, as someone who is a thorough non-audiophile. I enjoy the sound, and most of the bonus stuff is pretty cool as well. I, for one, would recommend them.
