I was having a listen to this concert the other day is this the only Queen concert where the was complete keybords through the entire setilist i think it sounds great with Spike all the way though

I think the bulk of opinion here is that this and the Rio concerts have the worst mixes of any officially released gigs - awful sounding drums (a lot to do with Roger's choice of kit), guitar very low in the mix, and keyboards too heavy in al ot of places. Still, if you enjoy these then that's absolutely fine.

It's not so much a "bad" mix as a dated one. For some reason, that thin, plastic sound was popular in the '80s. Which is why we should delete the '80s from history, but that's another story.

I didnt like it. I like the concerts they gave in japan but Spike isnt really that great in keyboard playing as far as tasteful playing goes... he plays what he has to play, but he doesnt spice it up with little accents here and there.. just the basic rifraffing, and his choice of sounds is TERRIBLE.

i do not like it at all(the sound mix). The sintheziser is way too loud. it seems it was trying to outmatch the rest of the instruments, and roger's kit was awful too. It is a pity, becaue the tour itself had a great setlist.

Yes, definitely so - Killer setlists during the 84/85 shows but that annoying keyboard sound and weird drum set up (heard throughout the works - only effective in Hammer To Fall) just gave the music a very cold sound.

roger was a lazy bastard in much of the mid 80's using a lot of drum machines. i agree the drum sound is awfu lon a lot of the works tours and too keyboard heavy. pity because the works setlist was probably the best ever.

I wouldn't say he was lazy. A lot of drummers were getting into the new technology.
Neil Peart did great things with it. Others didn't !

I've never listened extensively to The Works tour, but found the drums on Another One Bites The Dust almost unlistenable. It sounds like he's hitting pieces of paper. It's a shame that while the Magic tour was a huge improvement musically, the setlist was much more generic.
