was there ever a queen song done in one take...ie,practiced/rehersed.then went in the studio and done the complete song in just one take...i assume in the early days this was possible....just,bass/lead/drums/singer..no keyboards etc.along the lines of old live tv shows where a sketch was filmed as seen,no retakes etc..just curious..

The closest they probably came to that was Sleeping on the Sidewalk, which was mostly recorded in one take, with some touching up done by Brian later.

If you're talking about 'mostly recorded live', then a better example would be My Melancholy Blues, which could theoretically have been recorded live in one take. SOTS obviously has Bri doing backing vocals, and so of course it needs overdubs.
ITTWWC, Bijou and Lost Opportunity are others that could theoretically have been recorded live in one take too.
However, I think the question was more about the recording we know being the first take, and as far as I'm aware, that's supposedly the case with SOTS. I've never heard anything to suggest any other songs were recorded this way.

Holly2003 is correct, Sleeping On the Sidewalk is the closest Queen ever came to releasing a song in one take. The other fella is answering a question that isn't being asked....

Well, unless I'm going mad, Holly's edited his reply since I made my post, which now makes me look a bit of an idiot.
The reason I put 'mostly recorded live' in quotation marks, was because that was a phrase Holly used. I was therefore basically making the point that Holly had answered a question that hadn't been asked, as well as answering the original question myself.
If only I'd properly quoted Holly...

Yes I edited the words "recorded live" to recored "in one take" because that's what I meant to say originally. Bohardy's answer is a progresion from what I said.

Not directly Queen, but wasn't the majority of "Time" recorded in one take except for the ending section?

I believe it was "In My Defence" that was recorded in one take.
Wasn't "The Night Comes Down" done in a take....or am I getting it confused with it being the demo of it making it onto the debut album?

I'm pretty sure it was the demo that made it onto the album.

Pretty much, albeit it was re-mixed to give it the Trident sound.

The only way The Night Comes Down was recorded in one take is if Brian May had 3 sets of arms to play acoustic guitar and 2 red specials all at the same time.
