I Can Hear Music / Funny How Love Is

Is it just me or does anybody else note sound similarities between these two early tracks? For me, they had a similar approach for recording these song, sort of "wall of sound" approach.

well yes, naturally
the first was a beach boys cover - used to fill a gap in studio time
the second is a beach boys tribute - i get what you're saying, but [b][i]Flick of The Wrist[/i][/b] is a better [i][b]WOS[/b][/i] example
[b][i] ICHM[/i][/b] and [b][i]FHLI[/i][/b] aren't really about [i][b]wall of sound[/b][/i], but they are about that definitive Beach boys sound

and queen were't the first "big" band to plagiarize the [i][b]Beach Boys[/b][/i] - even the [i][b]Beatles[/b][/i] did it
listen to [i][b]Back In The USSR[/b][/i] (although in fairness this was more of a reverent homage than a out-and-out copy)

They had the same producer and were recorded at the same studios only some months apart, so there you have it.

You mean those two early tracks that sound exactly the same?

I did a little research and realised that "I Can Hear Music" was originally recorded by The Ronnettes. So The Beach Boys version is also a cover version.

True, however, they did re-arrange it.
The Beach Boys version is the definitive version in my opinion. Carl Wilson's voice was undoubtedly one of the best in the industry.

Funny fact: I Can Hear Music is one of the very few BB songs without any input of Brian Wilson.

'Kokomo' was the first beach boy track that Brian was'nt involved in. According to Brian in his autobiography.

Someone should do a mix of both. I totally see them blending perfectly

Hmm, I wonder what he contributed to ICHM. In several documentaries they mentioned that Carl took over from Brian as the producer. He's not featured as a vocalist or musician as far as I can tell. Maybe he did help in arranging the acappella section.

Or maybe Brian forgot about ICHM being a pre-Kokomo track he wasn't involved in... sometimes those claims ought not to be taken at face value.
