"machines" is fine. but dated. whereas "hard life" is a timeless classic. just beautiful. cannot believe people still list "radio gaga". it's one of the most overplayed songs ever by queen.

Gaga barely if ever played here. It makes sense to me that it might still feel fresh in some territories. That said, I find it hard to get particularly excited about any of these songs.

have to agree with ^^^

any chance the OP could add a "no favourite" option?
cos i think that one would win hands down

Machines is interesting because it's ambitious, something that can't be said for most of the other tracks on The Works. Its a Hard Life is the stand-out song on the album.

Honestly, Radio Ga-Ga is my choice. Like GF said, it's not overplayed at all over here, and the whole thing, while a bit overloaded with synths, is quite beautiful and soundscape-y. It's a Hard Life is a close second, followed by Open Windows.

On a related note, is anyone interested in trying to those survivor polls again that I tried a few months ago, where people vote for the least favorite song and work our way up? I liked the idea behind that, but the execution could have been better. Any thoughts?

The only song that really dropped into classic type rotation on terrestrial rock radio here post Under Pressure and Body Language was I Want to Break Free. Satellite's range not much broader. Within the last year or two I heard one of the big 80's tunes - I think it was A Kind of Magic - featured on a Deep Tracks (!) segment on SiriusXM.

I think your survivor polls were interesting in that it's a new way of thinking about the question that might produce novel ideas and discussion. The execution was, uh, problematic though. :) If you're open to suggestions I wouldn't use the word favourite anywhere, even paired with 'least'. You might also consider external polling apps that give you some control over spamming and disruption, which a few actors here are highly likely to engage in. Something like this maybe? http://www.easypolls.net/
