I was watching this interview with Brian May posted by David R Fuller (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUhPB4BJrfM) and they played Dead On Time.

It got me thinking, have Queen ever played Dead On Time live?

If they didn't, why not? (One reason I may suspect is because of the vocals, although I'm sure Freddie would've been able to cope with it)

I feel it's a great tune, up there with the speed, intensity and energy of Stone Cold Crazy (or as Brian says, Keep Yourself Alive).

What are your thoughts?

Nope, they didn't play it at all, which is kind of lame. Probably is a combination of the super fast guitars and vocals, both of which are even more challenging than SCC. I've tried singing along to DoT before; it's tricky. Makes me wonder how many takes Freddie had to do in order to make it sound as good as it does on the album.

In order to do it any justice live, they would probably have had to alter it somewhat.

Brian played the solo from Dead On Time a few times live while playing his famous guitar solo. I can sure recall the Paris show from March 1, 1979 and the Birmingham show from September 1, 1984. He might have referenced the song at some other shows, too.

Onother question is for me: On the records it sounds like they are singing Deep on time in the chorusses. Is that true or is it some odd english dialect they are trying out?
What a great band!

According to an online lyric site it's leave on time. I had always throught it was keep on time.
"Queen is the only band in the world that can play so heavily that your nose bleeds, then offer a silk handkerchief to clean up with."

Really? But I took that info from your website :-)

Although, having once listened to that concert (which was a long time ago), I myself can't tell if there was a Dead On Time reference or not, because I simply don't remember. But I took your word for it :-)
