Ringo

Saw Ringo Starr with his 'All Starr Band' in Sydney last night, was a pretty good show. I probably would've appreciated it more if I knew who anyone in his band was, considering the others led on just as many songs as he did. They did cover a Fleetwood Mac song though, and that Toto one which I also vaguely know. As far as Ringo himself goes though, it was pretty great. He did just about every Beatles track which he sung and/or wrote, with exception of 'Good Night', 'Octopus's Garden' and 'What Goes On' - I personally wouldn't have minded if he'd done What Goes On in place of 'Honey Don't' or 'Act Naturally', and Octopus's Garden instead of Yellow Submarine. Although Yellow Submarine is a huge selling point so I doubt they'd drop that. As far as Ringo's solo stuff goes, he did 'Wings', 'Anthem', 'It Don't Come Easy' and 'Photograph'. Overall a pretty nice, well rounded setlist. I was pleased with it.

Considering he's never been a tremendously good singer, he still sounds pretty damn good compared to how he sounded in the 1960s and 70s. The key was dropped down on a few songs, understandably so, although as a result, songs like Boys and I Wanna Be Your Man sounded a lot less energetic than they once did - although that's also because he's a 70 year old man, so I really shouldn't nitpick. I still greatly lament the fact that George Harrison wound up his last tour before I was even born.

Todd Rundgren (Nazz, Utopia and The New Cars) - guitar, harmonica, bass, percussion, keyboards (only shows where "Love Is The Answer was played) vocals
Richard Page (Mr. Mister) - bass, acoustic guitar, vocals
Mark Rivera - saxophone, percussion, keyboards, guitar, vocals
Gregg Bissonette - drums, percussion vocals
Joe Walsh (Eagles and James Gang) - guitar, talk box, vocals (Several Shows Only)

Some pretty big names there. Especially Joe Walsh from The Eagles and Steve Lukather of Toto. The one I particularly like and think is brilliant is Todd Rundgren. He has had some amazing albums, of which I have quite a few. The best ones seem to be in the 70's, including the double albums "Something/Anything?" and "Todd". Another great album is "A Wizard A True Star", which he definitely has been in my opinion.

Why the hell would they not play Octopus's Garden? That's lame.

This is the 12th version of the All Starr band, so he's changing the set a bit these days.

I'm sure if that was their reason, they wouldn't do Yellow Submarine either. I

Octopus's Garden is a way better song than Yellow Submarine.
