Tonight I saw Gary Mullen and the Works in Milwaukee. It was the band's first show of the U.S. tour, and they put on a fantastic show. The venue was incredibly small (a few hundred seats inside a casino theatre) and Gary's voice was a bit hoarse (which he acknowledged several times), but he still killed every song and got everyone out of their seats. I highly recommend seeing the show if the band is anywhere near your area.
I was hoping to maybe hear One Vision, Seven Seas of Rhye, In the Lap of the Gods, and Friends Will Be Friends, but the setlist was just fine the way it was. Here is the setlist:
We Will Rock You (fast)
Tie Your Mother Down
A Kind of Magic
Somebody to Love
Another One Bites the Dust
Under Pressure
Death on Two Legs
Killer Queen
Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy
I Want to Break Free
Guitar Solo
Bicycle Race
Don't Stop Me Now
BREAK
Flash (intro)
Now I'm Here
Keep Yourself Alive
Fat Bottomed Girls
Jailhouse Rock
Bohemian Rhapsody
Crazy Little Thing Called Love
ENCORE: We Will Rock You / We Are the Champions

Haha, yeah I have seen Gary Mullen twice and Queen Extravaganza once, and I do think Gary Mullen is better, but Queen Extravaganza goes more into the classics like In the Lap of the gods. I like them both though. Really great shows.

I hope the condition of his voice improves - the last I heard was pretty hoarse and shonky. Backing band still sounds top drawer, though.

Unfortunately, it looks like they are only doing the East coast this time around. http://www.garymullenandtheworks.com/tour-dates

They are playing mostly in the south. LA, FL, AL. No Mid-Atlantic dates. In fact they finish with SIX date in FLorida! Who knew they have such a huge drawl in that state?!?

Rich ex coke heads in retirement? (Florida)
Lame attempt at humor aside, oh well. Might have been cool.
I missed QUEEN NATION last time they were out here.
Till then I'll just rely on cds and hearing myself on karaoke nights.
A band effort takes much more effort

Saw them in Rosemont, IL this past Friday. Incredible. No problems with his voice that night.
