According to fan club magazines at the time, it was Kevin Metcalfe.

Why in booklets of remasters did not specified the name of the sound engineers who remastered Queen`s albums?

Embarrassment. Possibly shame? Or more likely a pragmatic decision, realising they'd need mastering jobs in the future.
