why didn't queen spend more money on animating the AKOM video clip?

In 1986 the band interacting with animation was cutting edge technology.

Bedknobs and broomstick in the 70's, mary poppins in the 60's and the Alice shorts in the 20's.
not really cutting edge as it had been done for decades.

[/QUOTE] Aren't we talking about different technology though? The movies you mention were shot on film with animators spending 1000s of hours on each film cell to create the effects. In contrast, the animation for A Kind of Magic was computer-generated, and that technolgy was in its infancy at the time.
