Yes you read that right..
The scriptwriter who is writing the Freddie movie biopic actually says he thinks sacha baron Cohen did a good job in BORAT as an actor, and he actually describes cohens performance in BORAT as "very moving"

Just wondering if the Palestine, Arab bashing stuff has been brought up here.
Arab bashing in general:

and his anti-semitism

So, question arises: since SBC is the driving force behind this movie, can he keep his ""brand of comedy"" in check?
Freddie Merury story isn't really a comedy. Or maybe the movie will be somewhat of a comedy as it includes only up through 1985 Live Aid, omitting very serious parts of Freddie's life and work.

Yeah, he's a real disgrace, I can't believe how embarrassingly bad it's bound to turn out.

Erm yeah, if anything the concern is that he is using the character to stereotype Kazakh people as being Anti-Semitic, not that he is anti-semitic himself.
SBC is hilarious. Some of you have no sense of humour, or you have your own poliical agenda. And some -- like the topic starter -- are just fruitcakes.

SBC is lame but what does hilariousness have to do with anything unless you agree they should shove away all the difficulties with the implentation of Freddie Mercury's character in film and just go for the stereotypical cheesy flaming image in a cheap comedy. It won't focus predominantly on the musical career since he'd fail badly at imitating Freddie's distinct speech and people would laugh at his lip-synching and miming playing piano/keyboards while recording a song, so I guess that only leaves concerts from the attendants' perspective. And needless to say, there's no attempt to compellingly portray Freddie's enigmatic personal life and make the audience empathize with the behind the scene persona without a genuine screenwriter, director and cast (if they picked fucking Borat for the leading role, nevermind about the rest), so what gives?

Bearing in mind you no one has seen the film or read the script, all of that is bollocks. The topic starter is mentally ill and has started dozens of threads basically saying the same thing. I've always had my suspicions some of this anti-SBC stuff is based on his ethnicity/religion, and now it appears the cat is out of the bag.

Must say well done how perceptive of you, what talent you have , how discerning you are, that you can judge a script as worthy without seeing it, ( i suggest you see ali to get an idea of the talent of the script writer or one of them, i was shocked to say the least)perceive excellence in perspective cast members while being aware of their track record, and can understand the human mind from a distance.
Well done! And I did not mention religion, I am pro Israelis right to the land of Israel actually, although I am against all war as I am Christian and not catholic, (we have no doctrine justifying wars as they and muslims do, as does the rest of "The World".)
As for the Arabs, they came from Jordan and multiplied on Israel's land now called the pa territory, and Jordan (which was named after the Jordan RIver where Jesus was baptised , which was part of Israel and so itself was Israel's land , as is most of the Middle East, actually.
So no I am most certainly NOT what you desire to be.
This is all about Freddie he and his life story being presented in a fitting way and giving him the consideration and excellence he deserves.
I see you all sidestepped the main point which is the absurdity of the scriptwriter finding Sacha's performance in BORAT very emotionally moving.
Tell me how could it be described as a moving performance!!!? Lol!
And how can his Hugo performance be described as brave and challenging?
Again such descriptions are asinine and seem to be mocking if you ask me, for they cannot be serious. Yet they truly and actually come from one of the movies scriptwriters.
I find the whole thing amazing, this is just another to add to the list, along with .Sacha Cohen is a good actor and a great singer lol!!!
The man Is funnier than sacha himself, totally hilarious., he should write comedy.seriously.
I cannot stop laughing.
I shall listen to either Joni Mitchell or Freddie's beautiful plaintive agonising cries to be saved from borat's river scene, to calm my mirth sober me and steel my resolve .

I don't want to tell a man what to do, but I think it's time you drop whatever else is going on in your life and focus a little more on this movie.

It ultimately boils down to the lame root problem, a script tailor made for Borat in the lead role just can't be right. It should have been envisioned in the Godfather part II format as if Freddie could return and act as himself at any age and worry how troublesome it would be to fulfill such a groundbreaking film later instead of taking the easy way out.

That is basically my script.
Freddie played by Cohen is retired and not living in London, he has been living in paradise with his former gardener, away from the limelight ,doing the odd appearance and producing on the party island of Ibiza , where he lives overlooking the med sea like a Olympic god. He has however been writing his memoirs and has been in talks to develop a movie about himself.
He has 14 cats and a young Spanish butler who he hand picked from the Ibiza scene one day, struck by his gorgeous looks and his resemblance to himself in his younger years, a struggling actor who was serving tables at a very discreet club , he and jim now and again, ate at.
tHe waiter can't speak a word of English, but Freddie, as well as employing him as his personal butler for the last two years, has been busy trying to train him.
Eventually the time comes for Freddie to return to London to oversee the shooting of his biopic, his waiter accompanying him.
Sacha Cohen plays Freddie, de Niro plays his lover who is left to look after the cats.
the story of Freddie and queen is then told
As the movies filming unfolds, the waiter who is the actor becoming Freddie in real time as the comedy making of - fades intermittently to the real bio story.
The ending involves a launch party for the finished movie, with sacha and the real queen performing in London, as the movie ending shows queen triumphant at the end of their real live career intercut with the fantasy retired queen triumphant reforming for a one off golden event before the great and good.
