KALAMAZOO, MI -- Event promoter and middle school coach Vic Robinson, of Kalamazoo, will release a new book detailing his time as a bodyguard and personal trainer for major rock bands, including The Rolling Stones and Twisted Sister.

Robinson was born in Chicago, raised in Mendon and now lives in Kalamazoo. His memoir, "Never Say Never ... You Could Be Next," will be released later this month and tells a slew of stories from his time touring with some of the biggest bands of the 1970s and '80s. From working out with Dee Snider to shielding Mick Jagger from the paparazzi to partying with Jack Nicholson and John Belushi, Robinson, a Marine, tells some of the wild stories from his time with some of rock's legends.

"This is the story of my life," said Robinson, a concert promoter and football and track coach at Hillside Middle School. "You look at me now, coaching and putting on festivals, and you might not think that I've lived that way, but it's been a crazy ride and I want to share those experiences."

He will hold a series of book release events, including from noon to 1:30 p.m. April 20 at the Mendon Township Library and 6-7 p.m. May 2 at the Kalamazoo Public Library.

Be sure to check back to MLive.com for an interview with Robinson where he tells some of his favorite stories from the road.

Please note, that he only worked with Queen on the US Hot Space tour.

So, either he has really good stories from that one tour or he just mentions Queen in particular to make his book sell more.

I hope it's the first.

You can see him in this video, wearing a red shirt next to Freddie. http://youtu.be/8qBjHA1WooE

One of the rare times I wish I still lived in Kalamazoo.

I usually wish I didn't live in Kalamazoo, or anywhere in Michigan. I'll probably go check this out, though. See if don't have anything going on.

When did you live in Kalamazoo, goodco?
