Fanthology for Dummies

Up until last week I did not know what a Fanthology was. So I decided to do some investigating. Here is my Fanthology for dummies history.  

According to Inu-liger. So from the day of it's birth the Fanthology was always going to be by the fans for the fans.

The first ever mention of a fanthology came from Fuller. He was the one who started all the infighting. This was "released" 29 Dec 11, 20:28; less than a few months [b]after[/b] the Fanthology was organised. If Fuller had this for so many years previously, why wait until [b]after[/b] he was a committed member of the Fanthology for a very short time before leaking it.   

In a personal message to JSS he confirmed to me this is indeed his Bellboy tape side A and if we play sides A & B we will see that they are the same session. JSS also swears he owns the master cassette (which is a one off) and only shared Side A with the Fanthology as part of a complete Brian May Back To the Light sessions project which would include many of these demos such as Marie's the Name and all the promo videos and notes to be shared here as a bigger package.

Strangely enough I can find no reference to this Too Much Love Will Kill You (Writing Session) whatsoever pre-fuller upload. Indeed it never appears in any collection beforehand. It just doesn't exist and I find I hard to believe anyone had it - yet alone Fuller before this time. If JSS is telling the truth this track alone betrays Fuller and his claims.
Only a few weeks later and then the Reaction (fanthology) stuff is also leaked by Fuller, stuff I had only read about but that was by JSS many years before.

[/b]Valyard - but you did do it David - you just said you did - and why call them leaks - because you know they were because you leaked them!  You also confirm the group was called [b]Fanthology[/b] - and it was you David who broke this secret. That means you joined a secret group and then ratted them out while you were still a member.

[i]So now after the Reaction [b]leaks[/b], Stuart and his cronies are apparently starting to say things like "I would've [b]leaked[/b] Hangman" blah blah. BS. [b]He sold his Hangman acetate to Queen Productions and is obligated not to EVER leak it.[/b] They just want to rile up fans against me, which is pretty low, I must say.[b] All I did was leak 2 things I got outside the Fanthology - that - yes, were in the Fanthology as well.[/b] Everything is archived in it... well... except Hangman.[/i]

Valyard - you admitted to 2 [b]leaks[/b] back then (I love [b]your use of the word leaks)[/b] - and you have since [b]leaked[/b] (or sold - which is even worse - by your own admission) even more stuff since.

Valyard - How did they F it up David. It's still going strong but without you in it. I think the above reveals a very narcissistic person who was only in it for their own 15 minutes. Now that time is over so is your time in the spotlight.
Brenski was right you forced the Fanthology to reply and negate your deceitful claims because you did all that you could to undermine their efforts and steal all the glory for yourself. Of course they had to reply to set the record straight.

Meanwhile the Fanthology take [b]always[/b] was that David joined an exclusive group of collectors that most would have given their right arm to join.   He was asked to join - not for HIS rarities but to head up a subcommittee of screening hours of video to help select the best quality etc. He then bit the hand that fed him. He broke all his promises thus betraying himself and the group.

What happened next was completely outside the Fanthologys influence and down to David alone...  

[b]He began to leak the material.
He then "copyrighted" the material and illegally broadcast it as his own on his YouTube Channel.
He was politely asked by Queen Productions to remove their material from his channel.
He continued to brazenly do so until he was "closed down".
He then pimped monies from fans for the material he received for free.
These fans who bought from him are now uploading the tracks to Queenzone.[/b] 
He is now squandering his thirty pieces of silver... 

So where is all the stuff [b]David uploaded[/b] to the Fanthology rather than betraying his fellow uploaders by regurgitating [b]their[/b] material. It seems pretty spiteful to me David to [b]release theirs while still hoarding onto your own.[/b] All the above tells me what I need to know with a few clicks of a mouse.  
Which is you have nothing of your own David and could not be bothered with your menial task of watching hours of video to find the best material, got bored, cut and ran, taking all the Fanthology loot you could and leaving everyone else to pick up the pieces, which has resulted in the whole projects being delayed or even jeopardised while you sit back and steal all the Kudos. Is it any surprise that people like JSS have left this forum.

It's amazing how a few clicks of a mouse can tell a whole story. So on behalf of all the ignorant people in here who would stone good people like yourself and JSS and chase them out of our community let me thank you Mr Wizard for all your uploads in the past and hope that you continue to do so in spite all the bile that is being projected in here.

Yes I do have OCD and dyslexia and dyspraxia and I used MS word to write the above. But It is my OCD which makes me double check the facts. And in hindsight; there is no way Fuller's story rings true.

So peace to Queenzone. Thanks to all contributers and lets move on and give the Fanthology the chance to produce the goods that Fuller wanted to steal for himself.

I would also like to add that, in-between the TMLWKY Writing Session tapes and the Reaction fiasco, there was also the YouTube leak of Roger Taylor's "Is It Me?" which was traced back to DRF by means of verifying the "glitch" in the audio according to the Fanthologists.
One thing I would like to point out with regards to the glitch claims is that it is not totally unreasonable to believe that they would have employed such watermarking features. And my reasoning for siding with the Fanthologists on that is because, as a collector, I have come across several eBay listings of record company-issued acetate CD-R's that clearly state on the sleeve label that each CD contains unique watermarking features designed to help the record company trace down the source of any illegal advanced leaks online.

I'm glad this is for "Dummies" because I have some basic things I am confused about.

1. Is it possible for a hacker to get into the computer of a collector and steal stuff without the collector knowing about it? I mean, could they send them an attachment maybe that contains a program in it that then allows them access - like a worm?
2. In order to trade stuff electronically with other Fanthologists, the members would have to convert physical things like tapes and acetates that are not in digital format to a digital format. What if they couldn't do this on their own and asked for assistance, and then that person who assisted them made a copy for themselves?
3. Are there many important recordings held by the collectors that QPL needs or has requested and the collectors are refusing to sell to them? I mean, is a big Anthology project being held up by a few missing pieces that would be worth waiting to obtain?
4. Are there many valuable collections that were not part of Fanthology?
5. Would it be possible to have someone in QPL pose as a collector and then trade for stuff using recordings already in the archives to obtain rarities that a person might not want them to have? (Assuming there are such rarities out there?)

Hasn't happened. Everyone has the tools they need.

Yes, there are plenty of things out there that QPL doesn't have, including acetates that they themselves discarded and shows they didn't record/film. But an absence of material should never be a reason to hold anything up, as it will always be incomplete (see item 4):

Of course. There is always more in existence than any number of people may know about. 8mm videos of every Queen show in Chicago could pop up tomorrow, and perhaps the only person who knew about them was the filmer.

Anything's possible but such a thing hasn't happened yet.

Valyard - thanks for your concise history lesson. It is absolutely BANG ON.

Except perhaps for the last fact. My name may come up often on the announce forum, but someone else is always facilitating the process in some way since I didn't tape any of the shows. A team effort, always.

This is all about TRUST, really. It seems one man didn't respect the trust he was given, and then, yes, kind of gpt his own glory.
I can imagine how bitter real collectors can be, and how difficult it gets now to recover trust from other collectors. Maybe it is not that surprising that almost no new live bootlegs were issued for more than six months.
That said, everything slowballed afterwards, and you can now understand why I do not post post or contribute here anymore. Queenzone changed after that, which is a shame. All was not 100% smooth before, but I always felt comfortable with Queenzone. Until 2011.
No need to move thnigs once again, but time to thank Bob for all his shares (whatever he says), and to all other great names on Queenzone. You know who they are, and they worked with the RESPECT word in head..

I absolutely understand the things people like inu-liger and john says. we should all be thankful when a rarity pops up like this one. It's a good thing to know that the people inside this fanthology are creating things QP won't. from time to time some rarities are shared here and come to think of it. We all got more rarities here than QP ever put out. So all the uploaders and kind people in and out the fanthology are truly amazing for sharing great things Roger, Brian and Jim won't.
So let's be kind to each others and respect the gems that are shared here. Thanks to everyone who shared these gems because Roger and Brian keeps them behind closed doors and maybe someday we get to see a great boxset.
