Does anybody know if there's a support act? I'm going to Salford tonight and it says 8pm start and 90 minute show. Is that correct?

Can anyone recall that queen (bm/rt) were due to do a jools holland slot one xmas and an unplugged US special, if my memory serve me well with these then these would have been great...

Yes - Q&PR were due to play Jools Holland's NYE show one year, but they just didn't - it was very late in the day that they pulled out but I have no idea why.
Yes - they were due to do a VH1 Storytellers live thing in New York in 2001, and the date was confirmed in the Fan Club magazine etc.... but it never happened. I recall that it may have been cancelled due to 9/11, but I don't know why it wasn't moved elsewhere or rescheduled.
I also remember reading earlier in 2001 that they had changed the format and were going to record several sessions with different vocalists and then have these broadcast as one show, but they certainly didn't do any of these either before Sept 2001.
That would have been great - an intimate show with reputable guest vocalists, with different treatments of some songs, and Brian and Roger singing some too, exploring the catalogue and chatting through the ideas of the songs, with anecdotes.

Just found the following from a Google seach, which gives results from the old 'Brianmayworld.com' web archive. Seems that the VH1 thing was due to actually be ON 9/11, but was then pulled in August (ie BEFORE 9/11) and due to be rescheduled for later in the year, but clearly wasn't. Maybe it wasn't remounted due to the terrorist stuff (fair enough) but that WASN'T the original reason it didn't happen........

Queen concert postponed
(source: Official Queen Fan Club Website)
The Queen concert in New York (VH1 Storytellers) has been postponed until later in the year.
More information will follow as soon as I get them.
Full Queen concert live in New York
(source: Official Queen Fan Club Website)
the following was posted today and is straight from the Official Queen Fan Club website:
As it's now "public knowledge":
Queen are joining forces with Foo Fighters dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins to host the Storytellers live gig on September 9th at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York. It will be for an audience of approximately 1500. At present I have no idea of how or when tickets will be available. It could be "invite only", they could be on sale, they could be free on a first come first served basis, once I find out I will let you know. I have requested an amount of tickets for UK and European fans who might want to attend, but haven't been given any indication of whether we will get them yet. There will be about five guest vocalists, including Dave and Taylor, but the others as yet unconfirmed. The show will be filmed by VH1 and aired across North America, it will also eventually be available on DVD worldwide.
