I know you QZ guys like threads to be posted in the right area, and I can only hope that this genuine thread is serious enough to earn its keep here. But....
I was wondering....
I heard about a brand new YouTube channel called RARE SHARE: QUEEN COLLECTABLES... a special channel created for Queen fans and collectors, by Queen fans and collectors... and all that jazz... which will focus entirely upon Queen memorabilia from their entire career.
It sounds extremely fabulous, and unusual, and thus does anyone know exactly when it's going live?
I heard from a source close to the band (of people that work near to the archive) that it is now ready, all raring to go, and more ready than a ready-made cuppa soup on a table already mixed and ready to drink.
Gary Taylor old son... please can you confirm when this Queen channel of memorabilia, nostalgia, treasures, gems, collectibles, bijous, precious things and general fabness will be with us???
Thanks man!!!!

A youtube channel showing pictures/footage of old merchandise is one of the stupidest ideas i've ever heard

I also don't understand this channel idea but let's wait and see, maybe it will be interesting

It will only be interesting to those who collect Queen and solo memorabilia or who like to know what is 'out there' and has been released under the Queen banner over the last 40 years.
If anyone is expecting rare and unseen video footage or audio recordings then they are going to be disappointed.

Indeed, it'll only expose who really pays attention and who doesn't, given the one requirement barring use of any copyrighted A/V material.
A question though, GT: Does that rule also apply even if say I wanted to quietly dub in my own original incidental background music?

Yes, you can add music to the soundtrack if it is your own music, but nobody else's if you don't have their permission.
We suggest that when viewing any video content, just play your own Queen soundtrack from your music library or CD quietly in the background.

Why, are you not having such a good time, good time? :-P

Are you saying Greg that you haven't been able to seek QPL's permission for us to play Queen music as background audio if posting something?

Thanks Gary.
2nd question now, to do with technical specs: What video/audio format specifications (including video resolution) work best for you guys, and as well for those interested to contribute to the channel, any preferred avenues of uploading the contributor's final source video?

Why a video channel? If you're wanting to show old memorabilia such as an original ticket, a magic tour shirt, a collectible plate...whatever. Why not a pictures? Why not a picture section on the main site? Why videos? I just don't get it.
