Just heard via Stevie Lange that Mike Shipley has died.
mike was mixing engineer on several queen records and had a lot of tales to tell.

a few of which are here

"Well I could tell you about the time I was editing the 24track and totally fu@#ed it up thereby effectively making an unscheduled arrangement change . Of course it was all their fault 'cos they kept asking me to hear it with the piece in..the piece out ...the piece in etc and when they had decided that they wanted it to stay...well by that time I was standing on the piece of tape in question and destroyed it by mistake , but they actually took me seriously when I sheepishly said that it sounded good without it (trying to hide my faux pas)"

Ha, wow.

The more we hear about Queen, the more we get an image of them being very difficult to work with because of their perfectionism.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. Look at what they left us with ! All for a good cause.

Hopefully it was a working reel and not a master reel that he fucked up! Wow indeed XD

Wonder what song that was?

It was definitely NOTW so we can narrow it down to eleven tracks plus stuff that didn't make it to the album such as Feelings and Silver Salmon.
