According to the midweeks Queen's Greatest Hits will sell approx 15,000 copies in the USA this week putting it back in the top 30 (or indeed the top 100) for the first time in years.
Any idea why?

Pingfah - Queen's Greatest Hits has been showing in the top 10 albums for US iTunes - I think it peaked at around 7 at the weekend and is still top 40 - there are sometimes promotions/reductions in prices for certain albums at times so I'm assuming this is why there has been an increase in overall sales/chart position.
Dire Straits - Brothers In Arms had a similar increase last week in the UK as it was included in iTunes top 50 Classic Rock albums - it re-charted at number 41. Incidentally A Night At The Opera also was included in these 50 albums - I did see ANATO in the top 200 Rock albums chart on UK iTunes but it sadly didn't get into the top 100 album charts last week.

Just forgot Queen's Greatest Hits has been doing OK in the UK as well - its at number 55 this week - previous 4 weeks positions were 79-67-54-56.
Amazing to think that after it being confirmed as selling approx 5.9 million copies in the UK making it the best selling album of all time here, its still charting!

Sad, isn't it. The continued success of a cash cow like this enables QPL to not have to bother finding more creative ways to fill the moneybags.

Well I can only speak for Britain. I think the rise is due to the BBC broadcasting 'The Great Pretender' last week.

I think GH has been available once again in Tescos.
Because of the reduction in record shops over the years, there is a massive amount of albums sold in their hundreds of stores throughout the country. I think it appeals to the more 'Joe Public' crowd where greatest hits/compilations are stocked in large amounts. I could never imagine seeing any other Queen albums in superstores apart from the hits albums sadly.

Wow! This is really great and exciting news! The reason I would imagine would the news of the already successfully sold out iHeart Radio concert! Queen have not gotten promotion like this in years in the U.S. Thank God that they are now!
With that all said may I asks which version is selling so well? The 1992 burgundy version or the 2004 "We Will Rock You" limited edition version?

It will be the 'burgundy' one that's been certified 8xplatinum in the US. The one without Bho Rap that was released in 1992 after the success of Classic Queen. Another cash-in when Queen were big in America again after the success of Wayne's World.
Incidentally there is also the WWRY version of GH which is the same as the UK one but has a few additional live tracks added - this is also doing quite well on catalogue in the US.
Their digital singles sales are even more impressive - Boh Rap is the best selling digital single from the 1970s there.

While it may a cash cow, Classic Queen & Greatest Hits were the second and third album I bought of Queen...and have never looked back, almost 20 years later.
So, while it irritates me, I guess I can't really complain since that's how I was hooked.
