Queen - Roger Taylor Urges Michael Jackson Executors To Speed Up Duets Rele

Queen rocker Roger Taylor blames the executors of Michael Jackson's estate for a four-year delay in the release of the Thriller star's secret duets with Freddie Mercury.
The existence of several unreleased collaborations between the two pop icons was revealed by the band's guitarist, Brian May, in 2009, days after Jackson died from an overdose of anaesthetic.
Taylor and May worked together to finish the incomplete tracks and they are hoping the songs will be released later this year (13), but Taylor blames those in charge of Jackson's estate for holding up the project.
He tells Mojo magazine, "Freddie and Michael never finished the songs, because Queen had to leave L.A. to go on tour. Brian and I have worked on them, which means they'll come out as Queen and Michael Jackson - hopefully... if the Michael Jackson estate can get its a**e into gear."

Let me get this straight...

Brian May goes public about the tracks the minute Michael is dead, and together with Roger they are trying to grab as much of the profits as they can by releasing the material as Queen tracks. And Michael's estate is the problem?

I don't know about you, but I think Brian and Roger could have recorded some material of their own instead of circling over these tracks like vultures for four years.

Roger HAS recorded material of his own.

That's a good point Tero - it's not as if they were Queen tracks all along; they were Freddie solo tracks that in essence you could say that they had no place revisiting.

From the opposing vie whoever, Freddie and Michael's Estates could have got any musicians to play on them, or palm them off to some modern producers/remixes to ruin with dance mixes, so I suppose we should be grateful.

Given the choice of the two, if Freddie's solo stuff is going to be reworked, I'd rather it were BM and RT organising it and playing on it than someone else.

In all its simplicity, Brian and Roger seem to be under the illusion that they have a say in what gets released by the MJJ and FM estates,

Their work may or may not be picked up if it's commercial enough, but it's in no way certain. Just like it itsn't certain that the tracks would be featured on a Queen album at all.

Michael Jackson Estate and family are struggling with
grevious issues. The AEG trial which is in jury deliberation, $700 million owed to the IRS, strained relationships in the family. Definitely a difficult time for them.

Unfortunately I think Roger's language will only hinder the release. The Jackson family will close ranks on what they see as a public attack.

So...John Deacon will not appear on the FM/MJ Tracks...and on the "new" Queen Songs either....I guess.

The kindest move here would be for all parties concerned to take a blowtorch to every last copy of these recordings.

There was a FORBES article which stipulated several reasons why that "overdue" IRS claim was bunk.

LEGAL reasons. Guess the term fell under earnings of a living performer etc. Someone please look it up. I'm on a mobile with bad ranging abilities here

The thing that's interesting here is the credibility of Campbell, Murphy and shields. ... unless they're just character witnesses detailing his so called stress downfall, they may have new information.

Hard to imagine ANY body being silent about actual abuse for so long. Particularly as Murphy and shields were estranged from Michael's camp for more than a decade.

Unless it's about some transgender call he-she..... maybe Michael and Eddie shared they same hooker ;-)

Maybe Eddie just wants his name in a search engine again. It's hard to pay for a lavish lifestyle

Problem is I don't think Michael was gay. Just deeply troubled thanks to a strict religious upbringing and almost idol worship of his mother. That and the scarring influence of family members locking him in a room with hookers they paid.

Hmmm... then again that could be the perfect storm.
