Basicly a good one( Docu) with some little weak spots.( I expectet that because of the four hours length). I love MACK he is still very authetic in what he is saying about Freddie and the other guys. He blames Barbara Valentin as a Coke Dealer. On John Deacon - there you can see what 30 years of alcohol and anti depressiva pharmacy would do to a person !!! On the TADOOL snippets you can see that Freddie had massive problems to walk regular - very sad indeed.

Funny note Mack and Roger get arrestet by munich police as suspects of a robbery on a gas station !
I didnt understand that part with John Deacon. Did he mean that he looks bad or what?

I do wonder about the tendency in these documentaries to blame dead people (first Paul Prenter, now Barbara Valentin) for much of the negativity surrounding Freddie in the 80's. In The Great Pretender Freddie himself is quite negative about Queen in the Mr. Bad Guy era, and I can't imagine some else putting that into his head. Somehow I don't think Freddie could be influenced that easily.

I do.

Listen to Body Language. It was a mere seven years after he created Bohemian Rhapsody.

What more evidence do we need?

Granted, in terms of musical influence. What I mean is that Freddie is sometimes depicted as the hapless victim of evil people around him. That I just don't buy.

Aye, agreed. Of course he was his own man, but his entourage certainly didn't help.

With my limited german, I kind of thought that Mack was referring to Johns persona. It seems that he has a habit of being depressive and to have these kinds times. But it could also be, that he mentioned that after 30 years of anti-dep. medication and alcohol, that is the reason why John dissapeared from the limelight alltogehter?

It was also nice to hear from Roger this time that "We all did it (cocaine)"
"I'd love to see 70's Queen concerts on DVD!"

As a native german speaker I would say MACK`s comment on John Deacon can be taken for the past and present...but YES he was a bit "unclear" at that point.

@cmsdrums...NO! There was no new material about John but of course he was mentioned a lot of times !!!

MACK blamed David Bowie as a massive coke addict also. Bowie was doing line after line( of coke) while MACK was mixing Under Pressure on the console. He was so pissed that he give Freddie a call..."get this guy out of the studio - do a session with him (Bowie) or something"...and David is still alive as we all know.

did you mean anything in particular about David still being alive?

No offence just wondering, cos on that point, David has had a heart attack. So the fact he's still alive is lucky. That can and often does take someone out of the game instantly and permanently. Although he might not have been taking coke at the time, it puts a terrible strain on the heart.
