Hello Queenzoners!
Here http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/queen-sheer-heart-attack-2011-remaster.248744/page-2
I did read next: I remember a Brian May interview from the late seventies, where he said that the master tape for SHA was stolen. They recovered the tape but it was slightly damaged!
Is this true? If this true then what source was used for 2011 remaster?

Thanks for any info.

Sorry for my English
I've got the power to love to live I can't say it ain't right

It is my understanding that "only" some or most multi track tapes were missing for NOTW, not the stereo master tapes. Nothing has been remixed for the 2011 remasters so a stereo master tape should be sufficient in this case.

A Brian May interview from the late seventies? Was it recorded? Or can we hear/read it somewhere?

That is my understanding too, that only stereo masters were used fur the original albums.

Whether they needed the original multitrack tapes for things like Feelings, Feelings and Sail Away Sweet Sister working version however I an unsure - I don't know if these would have been mixed down to that quality level at the time as they were not 'final' versions?

Queen productions Limited and EMI both held copies of Queen master tapes. So at least two copies of the tapes were available.

But they are said to have been lost. Do you think he was talking about only one of the two copies?

Original tapes or not, the 2011 remaster is just loud. Search "loudness war". Find older remasters.

I believe there are a couple of multitracks still missing. And yes, there are some original stereo master tapes which are lost or damaged. You can check the liner notes of the 2011 releases and find out...
