My post is about their continual effort to allow Freddie's art to be mocked by even suggesting that someone else can sing in his place!
it is NOT about casting .
all other reference are examples of the history of this massive PR disaster! but of course it is Not a PR disaster to them, and that is the most shocking thing!!
but it is in reality for it is immoral publicity seeking at Freddie's expense!
and shows a lack of regard to his gift!
so to me it is a PR disaster

as regards the [i][b]"lack of regard"[/b][/i]...really?
it's not as if he discovered gravity, relativity, penicillin , planets, a cure for cancer, electricty or preformed the first heart transplant...he sang a few nice tunes....which (great tho it may be to some) - and coupled with his pretty abysmal lifestyle example - does not demand the deference you seem demand

And it says a lot about the media atmosphere that has been purposely orchestrated and created , when i am open to mockery by taking Freddie seriously enough , and knowing his talent to be great enough, that I considered the casting of who is to portray him in the movie TO BE ACTUALLY IMPORTANT and not an opportunity to mock him and make a public joke of him whilst keeping a serious face.

The original poster has a point here. This is only an opinion, but for me it makes more sense to use the multitracks of Freddie when they film scenes of Freddie in a studio.
Brian and Roger said that they´re in charge of the music for the film, so it wouldn´t make much sense to use Freddie´s voice for the OST, and then use the actors voice for all the rest.

The thing is, if it´s impossible for a professional singer to emulate Freddie´s singing, i can´t see an actor accomplishing it in a way that makes full justice to Freddie´s voice. People going to the cinema have to feel the hairs standing up on the back of their heads with THAT beautiful, wonderful voice. That´s what people love about Freddie Mercury in the first place - his voice.

Of course the actor will have to have singing lessons to get in character, and for some voice warm ups, but in the end i believe that Freddie´s voice will be used.

Freddie was a legendary singer, and always will be, but that DOES NOT make him a god.

Cohen is also quite a good actor -- and he was canned because he wanted to be MORE like Freddie, not a joke of him.

Stand back and take a look at facts my friend

Nobody is knocking Freddie Mercury

SBC left because of creative differences, I think we all know that Queen can be difficult to work with, and with good cause. They are protecting FM by letting SBC leave the project

BW is a respected and, by all accounts, excellent ACTOR. Let him do HIS job and portray his character in his own, professional way

There's no evidence that anyone is mocking FM

Have some faith in people, the FM movie will, possibly, be excellent

Let other people worry about the technicalities, if BW can't sing I'm sure there's a way around that issue
