It was around the time of the magic tour that he was making those comments !

To make the devil's advocate i think it was becouse John was so quite and so "whatvever, i ll get along" that they hired him in the first place. Perhaps Queen could only handle 3 strong personalities. ( strong personalities could just mean egocentrical but this is debatable even in the realm of psychoanalysis ).
Sure enough he wasn't as motivated with a clear vision which the other trhee appeared to pursue.
And perhaps at some point he regreted his low profile becouse it gave room to the other three to step on his shoes.
I think only Freddie could see more clearly his position. Being the diva he was, he was also strangely more able to empathise with Deacon's standpoint.

The thing that i always have with John is that i think that they might have gotten into an argument at some point...
It was so sudden that he dissapeared, everything looked allright during the `97 shows they did together, and after that BOOM he was gone, whilst Bri and Rog still worked/work together.
And to be honest, i really think that John thinks " They made the Queen name into a shame " Because of the colabborations with 5ive and Britney Spears and that Adam Lambert guy.
So i really doubt we will ever see him perform again with them, or even do an interview, its done, over, finito.
And, the sad thing about this all.
When Brian dies, newspapers and tv stations will tell, when Roger dies, same thing.
When John dies? None of the above.
Not because its "Just the bassplayer" or anything, but because he`s slipped into anonymous-ness...
I dont think that a lot of people will know him when you say "John Deacon" they know "Freddie Mercury" or "Brian May" or "Roger Taylor" but they dont know John...
IF John had stayed in the band from`97 onwards we wouldn`t have these silly collabs with shitty top-40 artists, i`m quite sure about that.
And offcourse John was sad about Freds passing, but so were Brian and Roger, and they still perform, right?
So i think that its not only the " John doesn`t want to be a part of Queen anymore because Freddie was like a brother to him "
I think its more of a " John disliked stuff that Brian did and because of that we got into an argument and John decided to leave the group "
I don't think your story stacks up, really. First of all, back in 1997 Queen was no more, much more than these days. MiH was a project they all got involved in, because it was Freddie's wish. The recording of NOBY did give rise to rumours of them planning to get back together with another singer (Elton John - main candidate at the time), but if you read interviews with Brian from 1998, you'd know he had clearly ruled that out. So, it wasn't the case of suddenly walking out from the band, because the band was no more. Despite the release of MiH and NOBY, they weren't that active as a group at the time.
Secondly, I doubt the statements you made as to what might happen after Bri, Rog or John's death. Don't like speculating on this, so all I can say is that in my view Roger is actually still on a similar level of popularity in general public's consciousness as John, i.e. "a member of Queen". No matter how fair/unfair you think it is. Brian has certainly become much more recognizable.

Well, I think John felt very bad for Freddie's death, and also, he doesn't like what Brian and Roger Im doing under the name of Queen.
Not very strong person? In some aspects, but he was the bussines man of Queen in a period, also did a lot for the Queen's sound.

And...who say John is not playing?Perhaps he is playing for himself, to enjoy. When Soundgarden broke up in the 90', Kim Thayill only did one recording until the comeback. But he was still playing his guitar in his home, without the needle to share it.
And remember also other thing, Freddie was the most protective member with John, Freddie pushed him to write more songs, everything...and had the same taste of music.

In the final analysis John is the only one who knows his reasoning for leaving Queen, and I really don't think he'll ever make it public, we should respect his decision, and just keep our fingers crossed that at some stage he may do something with Brian & Roger again. If you're reading this John.......go on you know you want to !

Yes, but might he have been talking about the early days?
I really can't imagine John going around in 1986 telling people he feels like an outsider in Queen, after the obviously hugely collaborative nature of their career which saw all band members score big hits, that doesn't seem at all likely.

Including Johns shared writting of songs in 25 years he wrote around 20 songs, less than 1 song a year, two smash hits with Dust and Break Free.I am not knocking him for this ,a lot of Bass players don't write at all,but i have to put the point, that how vital was John to Queen. He certainly was a fine Bass player, but Brian and Roger have done some very worthwhile stuff since John left.I enjoyed QPR and AL at Hammersmith.I thought Brian and Kerry with their candlelight tour was also great. What John does with his time now i have no idea,i hope he is well and happy and enjoys his big fat cheque each quarter!!

Spread Your Wings, You're my best friend, Misfire...I think John is best composer than Roger, for example. He is also a very finest rhythm guitarist.

that's subjective. YOUR definition of worthwhile is the next persons complete crap. - i'm glad you're happy.
myself? - i'm constantly underwhelmed by the worthiness of each new addition to their post '97 body of work.

If you want to know what in my opinion is true about John Deacon, well he had access to classified information whereby from 1996 he knew that I was genetically identical to the agent who is Freddie Mercury (and actually Michael Jackson).
I believe that I formed a band in 1996 with the agent who is John Deacon as lead guitarist, the agent who is Eddie Vedder as vocalist and the agent who is Geddy Lee as Rhythm Guitarist.
Ironically I was actually the bass player!
I do not know who the drummer was but they were outstanding and could actually light a cigarette during a hard rock song and still sound convincing throughout the performance.
Lets get those fucking stage floor boards flapping with integrity, with Freddie's cloned American Queen Wolf from London taking control of the band in the future.

I think it's fairly well known that John had some sort of breakdown after Freddie died and also, watch the video of Queen & Elton in 1997. There is NO interaction between John and Brian. John doesn't even look at him!

I have a lot of time for John, and would much prefer a nice cup of tea and chat about his days in Queen and his interests than Roger or Brian.

To top this whole discussion off, well I lived with the agents who are Elton John, Madonna and Stevie Wonder between the year 2000 and 2006.
That is a bit of a hint really.
