Roger Taylor:- "Brian's Guitar was made from a Fireplace, John's Bass...was made from a Fireplace...Freddie's Piano... was made from a Fireplace....My Drums were made from a.....Fireplace"

Priceless, lol!!!! it goes to show that Roger has a sense of humor.

Loved Matt Lucas as "Ray Thomas Baker"

It was interesting to try and spot the references but was about as funny as castration.

In the right situations it can be quite funny.

A friend of mine once went into hospital for a vasectomy, they read his notes wrong and gave him a castration.

My god, when I found out I pissed myself laughing, it was funny as F**K!!! ;-)

It weren't great but wasn't the worse thing i ever saw. It was nice getting the Queen Documentary references, the inclusion of RTB, 'Zandra Rhodes', Old Grey Whistle Test, Roger Taylor himself and even the font was the same as Days of Our Lives i believe.

Did smile when it said 'Roger Taylor - Duran Duran'

It wasn't a laugh out loud comedy, but isn't supposed to be; the brilliance was in the references, and if you got them then it was, to me, a work of subtle genius. You have to know and love something to be able to pastiche or parody it effectively, and in that respect Rhys Thomas and Simon Day absolutely hit the mark.

yes, there's two more parts tho, so will see if i can do something with the whole thing - when it finishes in a fortnight.

loved the reference that Roger made to the "Genesis, type" prog band - think they were called "Thotch"
Roger's Quote:
Thotch weren't that intelligent, well they weren't as intelligent as we were. i mean, Brian did build his guitar out of a fireplace, and, and John built his guitar out of a large fireplace, so freddie built his piano out of a fireplace and I built my drums out of a fireplace, and - you know, they weren't THAT intelligent"

you can get them online here

there's also some "spoof" videos there too
Naughty Man - is very kraftwerk
Love Is Modern - Is very Eno/era Bowie
Chinese Meal - is "Wall" era Floyd
Spirit Level - very Level 42/ Gabriel solo
Land of the Crab - is Genesis at their nuttiest, with some yes guitar bits

The Leo Sayer and Rick Parfitt 'fight' was funny. ....

I thought they captured the look and feel of 70's live video brilliantly. Really well observed. Loved Rick Wakeman's repeated I played on that line, and Jools Holland's it was good but they should have done it like this! I'm looking forward to the next one.
