Another chance to make the glory in USA that desappear in 1982...

I am not having too high expectations of (Queen/2) + AL, but i am at least willing to give them another touring chance. Paul Rodgers might have been a better fit-in because of him being their generation, and some QPR songs developed really good. What really ruins at least some of them, is that they take all the hits and try to force them onto whoever they force to sing for them. Why? We all know, that Brian and Roger could sing themselves, and i think, they really should do more of that. The people not necessary want to hear the same old hits all again, they want to hear [and see] Brian and Roger singing, and if they brought in some solo stuff of theirs, i would be the last one to mind, because the more confident they are in whatever they are singing the better they get at singing it.

So it is quite obvious that Roger should sing RGG, AKOM, TATDOOL and HFE, while Brian would be singing IWIA, TSMGO, TMLWKY and '39. Let's add some covers like Rock'n'Roll, which could be delivered quite by Roger and some minor hits, which nevertheless sound quite good while sung by Brian (like on his solo tours), like NIH, WWRY, HTF or Headlong, and Roger (like on his solo tours), like RTWW. You could fill 2/3 of a concert with all the afore-mentioned and would only need an additional drummer on some songs, which Rufus purely incidentally uses to be. It even stays in the family! Add a singer like PR, who only either would interprete any Queen songs, that would suit him (and there clearly are some) or his own, and you got a whole concert, a good one even, just not another greatest hits show.

Just my 2 cents.

Wouldn't they have announced some UK dates there and then if they planned on it?

I doubt they would ignore the UK if they are in tour mode, hopefully they will do a few UK dates when they wrap up in America. Just my opinion.

Why announce UK shows in America?

I'm actually hoping they DON'T do any UK shows so it saves me the dilemma of whether to go or not!! If they do, it'll be massive venue I'm sure, and I'm happy having 'signed off' seeing them at Hammersmith in 2012.

appropriate, maybe but still too big a venue for an actual queen+AL concert.
suggest a more suitably-sized venue - phone-box?
Let's not be too hard on the guys... They couldn't possibly fit into a phone-box with their instruments, even if their entire audience would.
Don't underestimate how popular Adam Lambert is in North America... he's pretty big.

In North America - most people know about ten Queen songs. The big hits are exactly what they want to hear.

And with Lambert's popularity, this has the potential to be a pretty successful tour. They wouldn't be undertaking it if it wasn't.

Look at the 2012 setlists. They likely won't deviate too much from them, if at all.

Agreed. But BM has said that they might get dangerous with the set list this time and that they are planning a longer rehearsal period..

All this sounds great to the old school hardcore fans, but is an arena tour of America in 2014 the right place for them to be "dangerous" with their choice of songs.

Joe Blow in seat 23 block Z expecting AOBTD will have a completely different reaction to Queen Zone member X in seat 1 block A when they get White Queen instead!
