Why Scorpions didn't performed at the FM tribute concert?

I know they were there. At least the singer and their guitarust . They can be seen on backstage video[url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VA9MqATH48] here[/url] at 10:25. Also Claus Meine ( the singer) was there at the finalle during We are the champions in the all star crowd-sing along.

So why they didn't actually perform?

P.S. Claus Meine could have absolutely joined Queen to sing Love of my life, as he did in later years with his band Scorpions.

Good question. I don`t know the answer but according to Klaus Meine they were at some Queen after show partys in the 80`s .I can`t remember exactly but in 93` or so there was a small one off gig or something like that and at least Klaus shared the stage with some Queen members.( I just can`t rember the complete lineup/ event, sorry)

So, it is a goog question why they did not appear.

Rudolph Schenker told me because Scorpions had no time to rehersals, so they were invited as vip.

I think also one of the reasons is that in April 1992 Scorpions were temporarily without bassist as Francis Buchholz already has left the band and Ralph Rieckermann joined them somewhere near the end of summer of the year before recording Face The Heat album.

Also at the FMT event there was only a part of the band - Klaus Mine and Rudolph Schenker, no Mathias Jabs and Herman Rarebell.

1)Spinal Tap is "officialy" a PARODY heavy metal band and their performance was quite good. In the end they said "thank you wimbledon" but of course that was part of the joke.

2)Liz Taylor is a long time ambassador for AIDS rights ( since her close friend actor Rock Hudson died of AIDS on 1985) so here presence there was significant. She appears a little "out there" and like a "universal mother" during her speech, but again her precence was highly symbolic and added status to the event. Also she was one of Freddie's favourites.He admired her.

3)As for Scorpions saying its crap...this is personal judgment. I find a lot of their stuff quite awsome.

Spinal Tap were great at what did. I was in the stadium the day before the gig, Spinal Tap actually sound checked in character! From the stage they saw that my friend was wearing a Soundgerden T shirt Nigel Tuffnel asked if she had any bizarre gardening accidents stories she could tell him about!!

As regard the Scorpions, Klauss was quite friendly with RT since they met at Rock in Rio in 95. They were a great band. I saw them a few times in the mid to late 80's. Really tight and energetic with a great show! In the 70's In Trance and Virgin Killer were great albums, their guitarist at the time, Ulrich Roth was really in a class of his own amongst the metal/rock bands of the time.

Billy Squier was there in the end finale for WATC, but again I'm guessing purely as a friend of Freddie's, and therefore invited by the band
