This is the kind of show you can only listen to in complete awe...
Had such a lovely listen last weekend.
I also had Hammersmith '75 in my car yesterday - for the first time in years - and I had completely forgotten how wonderful that concert is. I know there are a few mistakes but there are far more brilliant moments. Brian plays beautifully during this show and - even if some of Freddie's singing is a bit off - he does a solid show without several outstanding moments.
Shows such as these remind me why I became such a huge Queen fan :-)

Can anyone call in Stark ? He is the man to make a matching EQ level share of this one....
So where is Simon Stark ?
So where is Simon Stark ?
Thanks a lot for this one.
OK here is a question from the "wrong speed" guy.
The first time I heard this version I noticed except the crystal clear quality that it runs slower than the other version(s). Even if you haven't heard the other version(s) you can clearly hear something is "wrong" during Procession.
So how much slower is it? Roughly 2.5% slower, when I speed up the 96kHz version to 97.359 it appears to play in the same speed as my previously best version.
But the main question is - is it the correct speed? The old version could be playing too fast. The speed of the old recording matches the speed of the BBC footage, but that's not a relevant source since it could go through God knows how many framerate conversions before it was converted to the web stream.
Are here any people who care about speed and have ears good enough to tell which speed is correct?

Indeed, this version plays a slight bit too slow - about 30% of a semitone.
You and I are using different scales of measurement, but we essentially come to the same result.
If you correct the speed of this copy, note that it'll still be longer because there is extra audience cheering after Liar.

An important question for the "specialists": is this concert complete or it´s missing the encores?
Thanks for this too!
In gratitude to Sikke, my attempt to recreate original reel box in CD artwork.
Also thanks to Alex Solan for inspiration :)

The cover art is great! Would it be possible to create a modified version for my merge too?
Of course, but, may be, a little later :)

Or could we make artwork for the complete lot of all we have of all the Rainbow 1974 shows ? Including the 3 complete tracks ? And all known sources ?

thanks so much !

I'd second that and also with a link to what are generally regarded as THE best versions - I'm getting a little confused these days with the variety of links to versions flying around.....

But what is "THE best version"? There are now 3/4 versions worth having
- the broadcast reel
- this Elektra reel transfer (both 44.1 and 96kHz versions)
- the merge of this Elektra reel, an old bootleg and the video version
Words like "best" have different meanings for different people
