Painful?

Gezza, I am currently doing some more version 2's of some covers of songs. Some from ADATR. 'Long Away' is currently on the recording process and I will be filming a complete tutorial also for ALL the guitars used.... Have done Millionaire Waltz(the), YTMBA, STL, GOFLB, Drowse, You and I....in the past (about 8 years ago)

My question is - Do you get annoyed that some people cover Queen songs, even tho I'm not Freddie? Obviously I don't do them for anything other than my own sense of transcribing achievements and stuff using the most basic (cheap) of materials/gear.There are many, many tutorials I have done on YT. Is that wrong?? You can check out MW on here but it was done many years ago and it is MUCH better now.

I'd be interested to hear your views on this matter seeing as I am NOT in Queen....and can't sing as well as Adam Lambert. Am I also abusing the memory of Freddie??

Ludwig: No your not abusing the memory of Freddie Mercury, far from it and its good that you are doing tutorials. Do you find a lot of the Brian May orchestrations
difficult to copy then, like on "lets us cling together"?
I am a really huge fan of Rogers and the way he plays his drums, especially with that familiar Queen cymbl sound as it hits the beat with the drums, of course phil collins slagged roger off saying he used far too much cymbals on Queen tracks, which i think was utter rubbish, quite the opposite as collins is too heavy on the drums in my opinion.
As the years went on roger used that Queeny cymbal sound a bit less on albums but he does use it live in concert.

Gerry. There is no suggestion in this post that Ludwigs is abusing the memory of Freddie, because he isn't. But how can you come to that conclusion yet claim BM, RT and Al to be doingvjust that.

If The Real Wanker or I or anyone else on QZ was to pick up an instrument and play a Queen song wher would we stand. Would we be abusing Freddie's memory or not.

I just don't understand where you make he distinction between playing music and abusing a memory.

How can two of the people who wrote those songs be accused of that, just by playing music?

vocal harmony: Read ludwigs post again, he was asking me was he abusing freddies memory by doing tutorials on YT, and i said no.
The difference here of course is that ludwig is not touring the world like lambert & Queen and making a dogs dinner of it all. what you do on yt is only a bit of fun, compared to making a fool of yourself on tour!

And here's me thinking kdj2hot had some serious issues... Gerry - you have to be one of the greatest, most obnoxious, hypocritical whiners ever to breathe the air of this world. Stop it. Either the obnoxious hypocritical whining or the breathing the air of this world. Feel free to choose either as you please.

We'll see who gets the last laugh - those who got to see Brian May at his best one last time, or those who stayed home and rubbed one out to an old DVD..

Elementary school bullying? Really? You're in your 40s?

Posting your photo here doesn't give you some kind of rite of passage to superiority. It reveals you have no shame in revealing to anyone who comes here what a complete idiot looks like.
Never mind he probably would not have had any intentions of showing it if I hadn't exposed it in the first place.

Gerry, Gez, Jez, Jezza, Jizza.....

What if (hypothetically) that I accepted the offers that I got from YT about getting paid for posting up my tutorials?
Would that have altered your perspective at all? Would you deem me in a different light cause I chose to accept THEIR offer?

I refuse only cause I know what it's like wanting to learn a song etc and I'm quite fortunate that I am able to pick out guitar orchestration, harmonies etc etc and as there wasn't anything like it available I decided to put some time into doing them. Not a lot of recent activity this last year due to personal stuff but lots more 'bigger' stuff in the process.
I also know that for a lot that it isn't something that they are able to do - doesn't make them more shit than the next guy - SO I offer them up for free cause that's just my way/character.

Interested to see if your view would change if you were to assume I WAS getting free?? Hmm....

(ps - 'Let Us Cling Together' isn't much of an example of a 'tricky one' IMO. Were you aware of how many different guitars are in 'White Queen' or 'All Dead, All Dead'?) ;-P

ludwigs: yes i can imaging the amount of guitars in "All dead all dead" that is a very complicated May track with brilliant guitar orchestration, to which May has made his trade marks. Was not aware with "White Queen" though.
You do what you want on YT as it is your business,
to answer the question from Brenski about who will have the last laugh etc.... i will because i have see Mercury & May in all there fine glory, and to be honest Brian has lost the plot now and looks so odd with adam lambert, its not a match in heaven is it, with lambert looking like an eco warrior and may with his white hair!
so Brenski, theres your answer its a no contest, did you honestly think this lambert & Queen tour would be better than any previous Queen tour with Freddie in all his glory?
you have you head up your hole mate.

Gerry, without doubt, you are a f**king imbecile - of the first order. Tell me WHERE I said ANYTHING positive about Queen+AL ? You can't cos I didn't. I've said load about AL - none of it positive.
The only thing I have EVER said is that Bri&Rog can do what they like, and I won't buy it if i don't like it (ala The Cosmos Rocks) Here's just a handful of my anit-AL quotes:

"let's just be thankful that "little tommy tucker" doesn't have to sing for his supper...because the f**ker will starve to death"

" "the common wanker" isn't even aware of Adam Lambert's existence - let alone his ability to "hit some notes" or otherwise..... to most "common wankers" Adam Lambert will be someone they don't know from (ahem) Adam "

"in five years time your nick on here will be "someonewho likesHarry" or "someonewholikesNed" or some other such bollox... fact is in five years time people won't even be saying "do you remember Adam Lambert?" - because NO-ONE will - but in fifty years time people will still remember Freddie Mercury, Robert Plant, Ronnie Dio, George Michael and a few others"

"He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy"

I suppose it'd be too much for you to admit YOU were wrong on that score, or woe betide, an apology?

BTW:- I saw Queen in their heyday - FIVE TIMES:
NEC - 1979
Milton keynes 1982
NEC 1984
Wembley 1986
Knebworth 1986
.... so get a check of your facts before casting aspersions on my "Queen background"

Brenski: So now you are calling adam lambert, does that mean you will get slated on here like me then? i very much doubt it because whatever you say you get away with it.
you say some silly things like "who will have the last laugh to see May and Lambert compared to watching Queen on dvd" By the way i was not asking how many times you have seen Queen so where did that come from?
By the way do you know what an imbecile is?
look in the mirror darling and find out! Happy Easter hun.

"those who got to see Brian May at his best one last time"

It's a cost-benefit analysis for a lot of us, though. It's like someone offering me a deal with a serious bit of ass flavoured fine-print - cool, I get to go and see Paganini in my time machine, but I'll have to put up with Ryan Seacrest reading the news in my ear the whole time.

I'd give your right nut to be able to see Brian, he's my hero. Not so keen on having to deal with the vast musical disparity. It'd be as enjoyable as paying to hear my neighbours argue about immigration.

Zebonka12: Yeah i totally agree with what you say, and do not get me wrong because i love Brian to bits he is such an intelligent gentle passionate guy and the best rock guitarist
by miles, but you got to admit with the talent he has, what the hell is he doing touring with a slip of a lad like adam lambert? Personally when we lose someone like Brian has with Freddie, we make all the wrong choices in life, and i still believe that after all these years Brian is still grieving very quietly for Freddie.
Deep inside he knows Queen will never reach the heady heights that they did with Freddie.
Just likewhat AC/DC said this week about there guitarist malcolm young "we will not be replacing malcolm if anything happened to him" and this is what Queen should have done when Freddie passed away.
