Thanks for sharing your work.
Just wondered why it's now only 640x480?

I guess it's because it's downloaded from youtube at 480p resolution

Because this web source was obviously the same size or most likely even smaller (360p) originally on that CBS site. The video source I processed that was shared here was stretched by someone to 16:9 720p video which was very unnecessary and gave nothing to the quality. At the end, why should I make it bigger if it doesn't change the quality in any way? It won't add more detail to the frame. If we are talking about official DVDs for example, that are 720x576, I would surely leave it the same size because those extra pixels would actually contain detail.

^ Ah, I see.
Perhaps I downloaded a youtube clip from a different source somehow.
I have a 43MB 4:3 720p MP4 which, although watermarked, does look slightly better to my eyes.

I downloaded the video from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LaNpQ56UxA, using jDownloader.

I'll try to give this video another go. I'll rip it in 1080p from the link DepeX provided. But the result will probably be 480p anyway because they clearly upscaled it.

Perhaps I corrected the aspect ratio when I downloaded it some time back.
There may be more than one version on youtube.

Or even 1440 LOL!
ShineHedgehog · Member since
But 1440 is very hard to get, I failed it X))
Overall, it definetly can be upscale, 'cause we know NTSC's standart resolution 720x480. But in case of this web-rip with progressive (am i right?) scan I think "the bigger - the better".

Since the method I discovered was new to me the result wasn't the best, it was more like an experiment.
I messed a bit more and with a bit better source this time (1080p youtube rip) and the result is much better, not in the removal of logo, but in preserving the detail underneath the logo.
Check this and notice Freddie's and John's faces. Compare them in all 3 screeenshots.
There is more detail and they're not as washed out. I doubt I could do better than this, so I'd call this definitive version for me. If you want you can download it here https://mega.co.nz/#!3ZUFTaSC!o0KaebXiBgjLA44GusRuV0_ARE8z-n0lmJDttb246T8
Oh and also, this new version is 720x480.

Sure, but don't convert it to HD or something don't re-encode it and also preferably put a link to this thread in the description in case anybody wants to download it :-)
