I was listening to the Karaoke CD today (again) and I noticed on the instrumental version the lead guitar between 3.00-3.15 is completely different to the album/single version. Its actually rather nice.

Yes, this instrumental mixed using alternate takes of some instruments.
As you possibly know SYW 5.1 from GVH1 is an upmix of standard 2.0 mix because multitrack masters were (partially) lost at the moment.

I always had the same thought about SYW! And the same with FWBF from 2:25 till the end, Freddie saying "invisible" without the effect at 'The Invisible Man' karaoke at the "Ah ah ah hello" part.

Well the United States of Government are working on this issue, and Canary Wharf and in particular, 8, Canada Square E14 is the first target but there are many others in Zone 2 and Zone 1 of London.

The karaoke version of Bicycle Race has also different guitarparts, after the bells. That bit isn't featured in the original album - single version. The instrumental version (karaoke version) of BR is not that same versions as can be found on the Universal release.
