so if dvd is gonna be ntsc does that mean that blu ray will be in ntsc too? i'm confused about that technical detail. also does anybody have a screenshot for comparison of 2003 live at wembley pal dvd and 2011 ntsc dvd?
What you should do is take a look at the SD blu ray of the FM tribute.
It would have looked a lot better without the conversion.
The advantage of SD blu ray compared to DVD is higher bitrate and superior audio (in theory that is!)

But why do they suddenly convert everything to NTSC? Obviously the source material is PAL, so why not release it in PAL here in Europe?

Because Universal are cheapskates (although to be honest, how much extra would it cost them to convert a PAL master to NTSC? Next to nothing I would imagine). If they had any respect for their customers, they would create the digital master in PAL, and create an inferior NTSC master for the US. The issue is that in the US they apparently don't sell DVD players and TV's that can handle PAL, yet in Europe/ROW, 99% of players can play both. It seems Univeral are more concerned with US customers being able to purchase import DVDs from Amazon and be able to watch them, instead of them purchasing their own domestic releases. Fuck knows.

The DVD will almost certainly be NTSC, simply because all post 2011 Queen related DVDs were NTSC. The Bluray can be

a) PAL SD 720x576 @ 50i - very unlikely
b) NTSC SD 720x480 @ 60i - probably
c) the NTSC SD "master" upscaled to 1440x1080p and pillarboxed to 1920x1080p

It will probably be b)
i see. but what option would give us the best possible picture? a or c?

From GT's original posting:

"Package four (released in North America only) - SD Blu-Ray & CD combo box"

Why North America only? Surely this is the most useful copy to have, includes all audio and video (assuming it's 2CDs, not clear) but no unnecessary extras.

^ I have decided on a £9.99 blu ray pre order and I'll wait and see what price the 2cd drops down to.
I wouldn't pay half of what they are asking for the deluxe set.
I think I already have that poster in the box of tricks anyway LOL!

Also, I think I already have that poster on the book "40 Years Of Queen". I'm not going to buy the same poster again.
Don't forget my collection of demos and outtakes: http://goo.gl/uQARhn PM me if you want any [leaked] multitrack. Ya se ven los tigres en la lluvia.

^ You are right!
I just checked and box of tricks has a completely different poster but 40th book has the Rainbow one.
I knew I had it somewhere though LOL.

Take note QPL.
I was a potential buyer of the super deluxe edition, but you are too greedy.
I refuse to pay your prices and I don't think I'm alone.

2CD for me, DVD or Bluray at some later point maybe. I also think the Super Deluxe Edition is too expensive.

a)

NB. A blu ray player will upscale it anyway.

but i'm sure ntsc conversion will look better on blu ray than on dvd.

Yes it would, but that's not what you were asking.
Any version should look better on blu ray rather than a DVD (potentially a higher bitrate could be used)
A PAL version would look better than an NTSC one - full stop.
An interlaced disc would look better on a CRT rather than an LCD.
