Where the f.. is Sebastian...? this one is a good one for you and your musical knowledge...!!!!!
This is kind of part two of the heavy metal Queen thread, not so much of what I have said as a subject... hey list your favourite heavy metal Queen song if you want in order. But more of a discussion of what Queen song is classed as heavy metal or just a plain old hard rocking rock song and what is the difference between Heavy and Hard rock for that matter is it the lyrics dealt with, the guitar riffs?,or is it how fast the solo is?, the drum beat, the bass lines, the voice Freddie uses on the song...? There are a few of Queen songs that are lost in the grey nomans land between heavy and hard such as Hammer to Fall (described in the Queen greatest hit booklet to be one of their heaviest songs...?) this is a list of all the possible heavy metal songs in Queens song arsenal some of these songs are more heavy played live!! I must add in brackets and those grey area songs to me are marked in ?? and add any that's been missed and should be on here
Silver Salmon
Hangman
See What a Fool I've been (heavy blues esp live)
Doing All Right (part)
Great King Rat
Liar (live
Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll (some say has some elements of Heavy metal)
Son and Daughter (a very Heavy blues/psychedelic song when played live esp with the live guitar overdubs)
Jesus (The De Lane Lea Demo)
Father to Son (esp live)
The Loser in the End????
White Queen (As It Began) (some heavy riffs)
Ogre Battle
The March of the Black Queen (mainly the part played in the live medley)
Seven Seas of Rhye??? (Freddie had it sounding heavy live at Hammersmith 75)
Brighton Rock??(live it sounded heavy once again Brian's guitar overdubs and the instrumental part's before and after the solo)
Tenement Funster??
Flick of the Wrist??
Now I'm Here
Stone Cold Crazy
Death On Two Legs (Dedicated to....)
I'm in Love with My Car???
Sweet Lady?? (very hard not quite heavy)
Bohemian Rhapsody (described by someone on Wiki the hard rock/heavy metal interlude)
The Prophet's Song?? (some heavy riffs and the lyrical themes)
Tie Your Mother Down??
White Man
Feelings Feelings??
We Will Rock You (Fast) (Some live versions sound almost Black Sabbath heavy)
Dead on Time
Fat Bottomed Girls
Dragon Attack??
The Hero??
Tear It Up???
Hammer to Fall
Gimme the Prize (Kurgan's Theme)???
Princes of the Universe??
Put Out the Fire??(A guitar solo supposedly done while drunk...!! has to be heavy lol)
Chinese Torture
Was It All Worth It??
Innuendo
Headlong
The Hitman
Hey these are the most hardest/heaviest of Queens songs but as heavy metal goes I guess a lot of these songs don't make the cut but I guess its down to everyones own opinion and what they hear with their ears...

I think Sheer Heart Attack is Queens best Metal song ,done at break neck speed. When it was in Queens set list it shattered Roger more so than Now I'm Here.

Some of the songs on your list have definitely nothing to do with heavy metal, e.g. Silver Salmon, See What A Fool I've Been, Father To Son, Loser In The End, White Queen, Tenement Funster, Now I'm Here, Sweet Lady, White Man, Fat Bottomed Girls, Dragon Attack ....
I personally like most Brian's Sabbath-inspired tracks from the early 70's - Hangman, Prophet, SAD ... But Roger's things (Modern Times, SHA) are great too. It's so hard to decide :)

What Pittrek said. Most of the songs on that list have about as much to do with metal as Bring Back That Leroy Brown with jazz.
Anyway, as for the original question: I can't decide between Sheer Heart Attack and Modern Times Rock 'n Roll, but those are definitely my two favorite metal-esque Queen songs.

Jesus, The Lane Lea demo, comes a bit close to Black Sabbath, and a bit to heavy metal...

Back Chat or Freddie's Living On My Own. Those are the essence of heavy metal IMHO.
TATDOOL comes in a close third.

I guess I would take Ogre Battle, but it´s very hard to decide.
As for Silver Salmon, what kind of music this is it? It´s not prog, not glam,,,and I don´t think it´s hard rock...it always sound s some kind of heavy metal to me...but pittrek stated it´s not.
So...what kind of music is Silver Salmon??

a couple of the stupidest posts I've seen here...heavy metal? fuck off!!!
Back Chat & Living On my Own are fucking "thrash metal" and Nevermore / Lily are among the earliest examples of Death Metal found on vinyl....Casper YOU really should know better :-)

Ok, granted, I'm not great at distinguishing between different metal sub-genres, but I've got you on chronology, because "How Much Is That Doggy In The Window" definitely pre-dates Nevermore!

So what... I love Heavy Metal! Ten years ago I first listened and appreciated real music when my mate played me Queen Bohem Rhap for the first time and falling in love with Queen and rock music, I started my journey in listening to rock music and fell in love with Heavy Metal.. It's not until the last 5 years that I went back to Queen along with getting broadband and since youtube I have discovered this amazing music that Queen played in the early 70s and to me I realised why bands like Metallica and Iron Maiden state Queen as one of their main influences. Just appreciating how Heavy Queen could be and showing my mates these videos who could never understand why Queen had an influence on these bands when all they had listened to was their hits now realising wow that is fucken heavy I never knew Queen could thrash like that... And that is why I am here and talking about it and getting others opinions about a very little talked subject, how heavy Queen could be...
BTW I have only done this topic and the main one on Heavy metal....

Shit sorry man for not explaining properly. It was just the complete barring a few missed songs that I thought was heavy or hard rocking and the ones with the ??? where the songs that are considered Hard rock or right on the boundary of Heavy metal but it would be cool to hear what you think makes in this case a Queen song heavy or just plain old hard rock
I guess to a Queen fan that only loves the 80's stuff and the more popular 70s hits of somebody to love etc something like Dragon Attack would be considered to them a heavyish song.... and Father To Son does have a heavy element to it, the middle part with the solo was quite heavy... See What a Fool I've Been "live" is quite a heavy blues track, just as heavy as some of those tracks such as You Shook Me and Dazed and Confused from Led Zep I
