Is this DVD the only source that's available on the internet? Some twat upconverted it to NTSC which makes a lot of duplicated frames. Quite annoying :P

I think the DVD is the only one... :-(

A person who claimed to be the owner of the 8mm negs came here about 1-2 years ago and asked money from us so that he can make a HD scan. We never heard of him again.

There is just one source of the footage. I have at least corrected the speed, this is a sample : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mIi9bM7RE3c

Unfortunately I haven't been able to get rid of the field-blended frames

What a pity. I would be willing to contribute some for the greater good :-(

Was he talking only about those 20 minutes or possibly longer footage?

And yeah, those field-blended frames are even worse than duplicates. Perfect example how to screw up a great source.

What good would a HD scan do to 8mm film? Talk about overkill

It would be better compressed and if done professionally surely it wouldn't have any field-blending issues and frame duplicates. Also this is Super 8mm film and there is a slight difference compared to the regular one as this is better. I do imagine that squeezing 720p out of it would bring out a little more detail than you can see here on the leaked DVD or even a good PAL 576p transfer if not HD.
