I've posted on here many times about my meeting with Jim Beach at his son's gig (supporting The Feeling) a couple of years ago.
He stated emphatically that Earl's Court will never be released.

In the future when Mr Beach and the rest of the band are no longer walking corridors of power in Queendom, the record company will start releasing things we can only dream of, and that will be one of them.
We just may have to wait a while.

Then why the f%ck did they fix up the audio for the Stormtroopers exhibition in 2011? It's squeaky clean. The story about Mercury's piano mic not being recorded properly just aren't true.
A ton of tapes were returned to the band by EMI in 2010, and this may well be one of them.

As long as it's not the superdry mix from the bootleg videos, then hell yes.
The live version of '39 (bonus track ADATR 2011 remaster), however, sounds like the real deal (from the multi-track?)

Indeed it is. And they probably cleaned up the vocals in the middle section too.

I always thought a cleaned up and properly mixed version of Rio was coming sometime after 1995 after they fully remixed 'Rock In Rio Blues' for a b side single release, but it seems not. Why else would they go to the effort of pulling out the master tapes, picking an obscure instrumental filler track, and then fully remixing it to add as a 'teaser' on a single? The mix on that was SO much better than the new Rio live mix of 'It's A Hard Life' live on The Works remaster in 2011 too.

He has also stated emphatically for the last 20 years that an archive box set release was just around the corner, and constantly reminds us that Freddie told him never to make his music 'boring' whilst authorising re-releases of countless 'best of' packages.
Anything emanating from the Queen camp - and Jim Beach and Brian May in particular with special regard to content and timelines for future releases - should always be taken with a huge pillar of salt!!

I take on board the points made above Just to clarify, he said it would never be released in its entirety but would probably have the odd song contributed to a sort of 'best of live' thing.

Thats really interesting, can you say more about it, why EMI possesed Queen's tapes? It's all about rights to them I presume?

Ironic really when you consider that EMI is now owned by Universal!
Jim and the band certainly pulled off a masterstroke of business when they left EMI for Universal shortly before the takeover for a (reportedly) big fat slice of cash didn't they; I'm guessing if they'd stayed put and re-signed to EMI, then if there was any extra amount Universal would have had to pay EMI to account for the inclusion of Queen on their artist roster, it would have been substantially less than they paid Queen for their individual deal?
