In Need Your Lovin' Tonight there is a background vocal, very low in the mix, that seems almost like a harmony they tried and didn't like/use. Can anyone else hear it? You will need to use a proper stereo and headphones and not mp3 and crappy pc headphones.

Hmm, at what particular moment in the song?

23-24 seconds in Fred sings "never" in the background
44-45 sounds like "never" again
Probably a bit clearer in this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCx8hiSanJA

Yeah, there's additional "never" after every "I said I never" line. Sounds really out of place, but I'd say it's there purposely.

Yeah, always noticed that, maybe a happy accident.
I can hear it with mp3 and crappy in-ears. I say it's intended. Nice little touch IMO, but should definitely be either higher or lower in the mix. If I'm not mistaken, it's Brian singing?

Why on earth would you need "proper" headphones as you call it? I even hear this through my laptop pc-speakers. It is amazing to see how many that actually think music disappears in a standard mp3-file.
And as others have commented: This was of course fully intentional by the band. :)
If it's the same place that I recall, it always sounded to me like
"I said I'd never ..."
(Background vocal) "oh no"
"Never be angry with you..."
"I said I'd never ..."
(Background vocal) "oh no"
"Never be angry with you..."

How can you miss 'No I Don't' after the line 'I don't wanna feel like a stranger' about 31 seconds
Just part of the song innit? A hint at the slightly 50s / doo wop feel of the album.
