Things are going very, very wrong under the Netanyahu government. This is from a Ha'aretz journalist, and everyone needs to read this. It is a development that must be stopped, before we get a re-run of the rise of nazism.

I already read that, of course is very worth of reading. One of the fancy things of the article is the editor's note: ''The opinions expressed in this commentary are solely his.''

That speaks volumes.

No, it doesn't. That's what CNN always puts at the topic of articles in the Opinion-section, it's pretty standard media policy - a liability disclaimer because Opinion-articles can be controversial.

Oh, i see, my mistake then. I'm not familiar with how that company works. In my country, when a newspaper use that sentence means: Some serious sh** in here, don't sue us, but the foolish journalist instead.

These mobs are becoming the terrorists they say they want to destroy. Authorities, meanwhile, seem to be fanning these flames of anger and hatred, either without concept of the monster they're creating or with glee that they've sufficiently roused fury so there is further support for their inhumane acts of counter-aggression (inhumane because there is no concern for who is Hamas and who is not).

The entire piece is disturbing, but I think this is the worst of all:
"The people who were too afraid to speak out against Israeli aggression this time around won't be any more likely to stand up next time."

With that rather haunting reflection of history, it's terrifying to imagine where and how this will end.

In the United States the cowards are the elected politicians. 100% of the US Senate voted to support the bombing of Gaza. Congress was just as bad. Apparently no one makes it to office and to a second term if unwillingly to unconditionally support Israel. AIPAC is a strong lobby, unfortunately.

My favorite online sources for Middle East news are http://mondoweiss.net/, 972mag, Aljazeera, democracynow.org, and USAToday.com. I also like cnn.com and feel the above article is really excellent.

A great pictorial from mondowiss.net There I so much global support for Gaza. London alone saw 100,000 demonstrators, and Tel Aviv had twice as many.

Indeed. Books have been written about it. If these guys finance the politicians, they'll get the vote every time.

And we wonder why Obama has aged 20 years in the last 6.. ?

And it makes you wonder if that's why Jimmy Carter only had a single term. He is now one of the strongest critics of Israel.

Btw, this is a HUGE step forward in mainstream media, that CNN actually published something written by Gideon Levy.

This is stunningly accurate:

"It is all about dehumanization. As long as Israelis don't perceive Palestinians as equal human beings, there will never be a real solution. Unfortunately, dehumanizing the Palestinians has become the best tool to strengthen the occupation, to ignore and deny its crimes and enable the Israelis to live in peace, without any moral dilemmas. If the Palestinians are not human beings, there is no question about human rights. This process climaxed in this war and this is the real basis for the moral blindness which has covered Israel."

Great article here too:

The most famous refusenik and my favorite, Netanyahu's nephew, is Jonathan Ben-Artzi! He is currently teaching mathematics at Imperial college. He spent one year in prison as a young war resister!
