Not sure if we can post external links on the board, but there is someone who is convinced that this recording exists. (20.12.72) Surely that would be fascinating to listen to?

More proof if any were needed that Brian & Roger are very dismissive of the early days.
I can only hope one day it will be available.

considering the rumored treasure trove, the so called Archives, and the frequency of the new material being released, every 10 years or so, I am inclined to believe there was never a band called Queen. This is all a mirage, random code in the matrix which from time to time becomes music and that some lunatics consider Queen.

It's definitely okay to quote where you got the text from ! There are almost literally no rules at this forum.
Queen Productions bought the Marquee recording in the 90s. That's been very well documented.
As for the possibilities of earlier tapes - you'll have to ask people who are closer to the band.

Thanks. I didn't know that this topic keeps popping up. Fair point about the proof thing too. I just wish we could know if it exists or not. You hear all these things about the early material - supposedly Brian has a recording he made of White Queen in 1968 or 69. For me the Marquee Club '72 would be the holy grail.

I think it's safe to assume that they recorded some early concerts. What concert(s) and in what quality is obviously an entirely different matter.
None of it was taped with the intention to commercially release it but that doesn't mean it some of it might not end up in some live compilation or anthology that might happen somewhere along the line...

There's the Smile footage we have seen in Days of our Lives, but just a few seconds, without sound.
Even if audio and video are damaged Im sure there's more than we have already seen, now, is it worth it to spend some (or a lot) of money to have a nice version?
It may be worth it just for Brian and perhaps Roger, but Im sure most Queen fans wont buy anything from Smile.
I dont thing he would be embarrassed by it, specially cause many ideas used in Queen were used in Smile (like the solo on Brighton Rock/Son & Daughter.

Anything pre john deacon 1971 and queen would be in a unique situation like the term "original queen" and paying some sort of royaltys to mike stone Barry Mitchell or whoever played bass... If they found and released a early concert
