Listening to the new mastered march show and with earlier reel to reel tape shared by Sikke i've noticed a difference. Around the 5:25 mark Freddie avoids the high note on the new version but when listening to Sikke's tape he hits it. Does anybody else noticed this?

The older reel to reel one would've been overdubbed, I'd guess.

I was always positive that it was live, since he's hit it on some audience recordings.
But oh well, it's not the only overdub they removed, around 1:26 Freddie cracks slightly, nothing significant though.
I find it more interesting that Freddie still hits a B4 in Liar (and it sounds different), so I don't understand why it was overdubbed.

The reel tape is the same material as the old Sheetkeeckers bootleg released in 1975.
The official release reveals how much of the lead vocal was overdubbed on the bootleg.
There are still some overdubs here and there (on both the March and November material), but far less than there used to be.

So basically they removed most of the old overdubs, but added some auto tuning?

Seems to be it. March of the Black Queen is a monumental example of both of these seemingly contradictory things.

I still can't hear the autotune, except possibly on "plough" in Fairy Feller's.
People have been tinkering with live albums since the 70s, and it's not going to change. If the technology is available, it will be used. It's just the way it goes..

Imagine if they all of a sudden decided to make a live release out of one of the last shows of the Japanese leg of the Live Killers tour. They'd clean up the audio and make it sound just as good as the recent live releases.
Also imagine them not touching up and overdubbing where it could be needed.
I've listened to the Rainbow release quite a bit now and I think it's just a fanstastic A+ release in terms of everything. I haven't listened extensively to Sheetkickers or any other bootleg but I know that if I want more raw and a non-perfect experience then I have a fully decent collection of audience recordings. This release has Freddie flubbing quite a few words in plenty of songs which I notice a lot more than overdubs and autotuning. Like The Real Wizard said above, the only real potential autotuning I can tell is in the same spot in Fairy Feller's.

So if there are overdubs that have been removed, those overdubs are effectively an alternate studio take....
