Hi there, I played "mustapha" to my daughter (5 years old) and she loves the song, dances to it, wants to hear it over and over.... I'm a bit puzzled about it, can't work out the lyrics - or the music - does it mean anything or is it just playing with words? is it all a joke? Maybe someone here knows a bit about it?

A combination of English, Arabic, Persian and some made up words

Just because you can't make up the lyrics, doesn't make it a joke. ;)
It almost sounds like it's still a work in progress, even though it's finished. I would guess that Freddie had a strong vision about the song, but he just couldn't write a "proper" lyric for it.
So instead of throwing it away, they recorded it as it was.

OK, thank you! I guess I´ll just enjoy it, then, without understanding all of it, still love the song - and I´m glad it´s my daughter´s first favourite queen-song :)

Just enjoy another piece of Freddie bombast !
He said himself that one should decide oneself what any given song was about, he didn't care to shatter any illusions by giving an explanation.
