This MP3 release has been superseded by a new FLAC release. See this page for FLAC downloads Here's an excellent near-pro audio recording of this year's Summer Sonic Osaka: Direct download links here Listen to sample here These 192kbps MP3s were encoded from "Sundown Osaka" (S.N.E-226), and the audio material is a matrixed version of Adam's noiseless, uncompressed stereo In Ear Monitors (IEM) with a 24bit/96kHz audience recording. The release also includes a pro-recording of the 2013 iHeartRadio Music Festival performance, which has been included together Credits: This audio was made available thanks to a fan who bought the CD and wants to share this with overseas fans; but wants to remain anonymous so he/she has asked me to rehost this for him/her. Sorry, no FLAC available; if I eventually get the FLAC version I'll share it. Notes: There are also excellent monitor-audience matrix releases of the concerts from Chiba (Tokyo) and South Korea. See here for details. I ordered the one from Chiba this week, and will share it in FLAC here if/when I receive my copy of it.

Nice share, thanks. Is this the first Queen related IEM to be publicly released?

I don't know about the rest of Queen, but the Tokyo Summer Sonic one is also IEM.

I'll tell you what, Adam has a great taste for what he wants from his IEM feed. Nice amount of bass (a regular for drummers using in-ears) and also good levels of drums and guitar. It's not often you hear IEMs so well balanced, unless they come from multiple IEM feeds. This is as good a feed as one matrix I've heard comprising of eight IEMs.

It talks quite a bit about Adam's IEM sound requirements: http://www.fohonline.com/current-issue/21-production-profile/11004-queen-tour-rocks-arenas-old-style.html What's quite interesting is this part, which probably explains why the sound mix is so good for an IEM: Key to creating the excitement level he wants is having an exciting mix in his head, Stokes adds. “He’s rare in monitor world in that he wants the full production in his ear, so I mix it just like I would if I was doing FOH, except I take the other non-vocal elements back a bit, take out some of the low-mids of instruments, and I might push up some other instrument that are a good reference for him to find his pitch. It really ends up being an FOH mix for an audience of one, with a few qualifiers thrown in.”

Thanks for that link, terraj. I missed that when it first came online. That's definitely the feed for European IEM tapers to tune into. (A friend of mine has the equipment, I may see if can borrow it).

I read the blu-ray descriptions a few days ago (I understand some Japanese), and they indicate that they're audience footage. As far as I can tell, the blu-rays don't include the IEM audio but are just pure audience recordings. There should be some more pro footage coming along soon though, as WOWOW is going to be broadcasting 4 songs later this month in Japan (22 Oct), as part of the Queen+AL special. See this thread for details. Hopefully they won't overlap too much with the 3 songs already broadcasted (NIH, SCC and IWBTLY).

Wow that's awesome. I didn't realise that one could tape IEM audio as an audience member. (I'd thought that it had to be an insider job lol). Will you be going for any of the European shows? ;P

wow okay so its not an insider job as i had thought! thats very interesting that someone can pretty much hack their way onto the frequency!!

Currently down to do two shows. And yes, fan-recorded IEMs are common for other bands.

While many of them are say on by uber traders, virtually every Bruce Springsteen show in America since 1999 has been recorded on IEM. There are a fair few U2 ones available, too.

There are a number of challenges to record the feeds, but it's possible.
