So we're now living in a world where anyone/place that doesn't share your ideological slant is "fair game" and deserves to die/burn?
No one anywhere can tell me that any God would approve of this? Stand proud Canada, all of these c*nts who kill in the name of some God will ultimately perish....hopefully sooner than later.

Yes, it was a very sad day.....

All religions require intelligent humans having imaginary friends. Every religion is as ridiculous as the rest. I do believe everyone will think the same way one day and the human race will move on but it might take hundreds or even thousands of years.

What's truly frightening and sad is how many people in today's world actually believe that their god DOES approve of this and even demands it.
Do you remember the case of the pregnant Sudanese woman who was arrested and sentenced to hang for marrying a christian man? It's the perfect example of this, I think. CNN did an interview with the woman's brother and it was astounding. The man insisted he loved his sister but that she was raised Muslim (she said she was not, and that her muslim father abandoned her and her mother, and so her mother raised her as a Christian). The brother said otherwise and added that his sister deserved to die for denouncing Islam. He said, and I quote this because paraphrasing wouldn't do it justice:
“...if she repents and returns to our Islamic faith and to the embrace of our family then we are her family and she is ours. We are prepared to hold her dearer than the apples of our eyes. But if she refuses she should be executed. Why would I indulge my humanity, my emotions and incur the wrath of my Lord? That's not how it works for us."
It's not how it works because his god, apparently, approves the slaughter of non-believers.

You know the one thing more ridiculous than a rational human being with an imaginary friend?
A rational human being with an imaginary enemy.

Well, if anyone needed confirmation that religious fanatics have no decency, humanity or compassion, or confirmation that Christians can be every bit as bad as Muslims (and every other religion known to man, up to and including, funnily enough, Jaïnism and Buddhism), Jeff has shown them, abundantly.
The main thing we in the west need to watch for now is something I see taking place where I live every day: people are so pre-occupied with Muslim fundamentalists that they allow other kinds of fundamentalism, nationalist and Christian-religious to name but two, to creep up and destroy our freedoms and liberties as effectively as Islamic State-terrorists could. The Netherlands is one of the most secular countries in the world, but since 2001, Christian fundamentalist groups have increased their power and influence to a level they haven't had since the early 1960s! Recent research (2013) in The Netherlands has also shown that young Christian people in the Netherlands (aged under 30) are decreasing in number, but are also increasingly fundamentalist and intolerant of dissent. Nationalist/far-right groups like Geert Wilders' PVV constantly draw attention to oppression by Islamic nations, but in the meantime, they have contributed strongly to the limiting of civil rights and privacy laws and have made common cause with the SGP, the Christian-Orthodox party (and the only party in The Netherlands that wants to revoke the constitution and our books of criminal law - they want it replaced with the Bible and Biblical punishments), resulting in that party having had real political power in the past few years, something that had NEVER happened before in The Netherlands.
Don't allow Islamic extremism to revive fascistoid nationalism and Christian fundamentalism as a real force.

The tighter "anti-terror" legislation is already being drafted up, despite the fact that nobody outside of the government (and, predictably, the US media) has used the words "terror" or "terrorism."
Stephen Harper has been frothing at the mouth for an event like this to garner public support for another war in the middle east, and now he's got it. In Harper's Canada, anyone not in favour of the war will be branded as an unpatriotic terrorist sympathizer. I am praying to Ganesh that Canadians won't be stupid enough to fall for it the way Americans did after 9/11. Fortunately we have the benefit of hindsight to guide us.
But at the moment, so few people see the connection between this shooting, the soldier being killed in Quebec days earlier, and the fact that we just sent war planes to the middle east. It's the same reason why someone almost got beheaded in Australia last month - because they chose to get involved. Violence begets violence. If you get involved, the violence somehow finds its way home. This simple fact is lost on most.
I loved Rosie O'Donnell's comment - "Active shooting in Canada, or as we call it in America, Wednesday." Of course she got lambasted for it, but she was so obviously accurate.
And, as always, Russell Brand gets it right. So completely right.
