yeah here is more proof that Queen (Brian & Roger) do not give a stuff what they release now,
at least if freddie was around he would be very grand and careful with attention to detail and tracks.
This is a sloppy lazy release and i will not insult myself by keeping the cd when it arrives.

Sounds to me like the record company had set its release date, and May and Taylor wanted all the Jackson tracks to be on it, but the Jackson estate wouldn't, or didn't get around to letting them have permission for whatever reason.

I remember pointing out that Queen online announced there would be retakes on old tracks, but as it turns out, from what I can gather, that means certain songs being faded out earlier than usual or something similar.

Impressive.

This is kind of up there with U2's recent fuck up of highest proportions. Although, at least U2 fans got an albums worth full of material, albeit completely shit.

What a piece of shit, this is the 7th time I bought the same Somebody to love version, It will stop, I will illegal download the next next next Greatest Hits

I said I wouldn't buy this when it was announced and I say it again.
Take note QPL, I have purchased EVERY UK CD and DVD release (including solo material) to date, but it all stops here.
I no longer feel like an appreciated fan, it seems you would prefer a mug punter.

Queen Forever is NOT for the fans. It NEVER was.
It's simply the Ballads album that was planned for a few years ago with 3 'new' tracks tagged onto it as an incentive for the Fans to buy it - a practise commonly done by so many other artists.
Of course, we all expected something different from some of the other tracks, especially those billed as "2014", but I'm not surprised it's turned out to be bollocks.
Disappointed, but not surprised.

To those who have their albums (bloody digipack crap no doubt rather than a proper plastic case?), what do the sleeve notes say about the "2014 remasters"?

I will buy only the single CD, for the three new, or old, tracks, fuck the double version!

Only Love Kills is "well known"...and it's a new take, but, the press release suggested new takeson other tracks (Miracle, Play the game etc.)

Or,maybe, we fans are simply silly.......[/QUOTE]

Absolutely agree - the press release referred to the new tracks, then "new takes" of other well known songs. If they want to be so dishonest as to refer to tiny edits on a few tracks, or a new remaster (which was probably necessary simply to level tracks across the compilation) as "new takes" then they really have royally taken the piss (yet again).

I was tempted to buy the 3 new tracks individually from iTunes, but they are album-only songs (apart from Love Kills) and I was not willing to shelf out any money on the other songs that I already have on other albums (regardless if they are remastered, which in most situations just means a louder mix, clipped and more compressed)

So I downloaded the 3 new songs from a well known torrent site.

To proof my point about remasters just being louder: compare the 1995 version of Under Pressure with the 2011 remaster

(open in separate pages/tabs to compare)

1995

2011

Louder does not make a mix better! If I want to hear it louder, I would turn up the volume knob.

Also if you look at the wave form of ”Let me in your heart again” one might say it has been over processed as well (the more a wave form looks like a blob, the worse the dynamics!)

Brian has said that he can make songs from bits. So might the main purpose of this be to get the latest kids on board? Obviously the "3 new tracks" were aimed at established fans, who wouldn't have otherwise bothered. And with just the one MJ track used, that leaves two more for the next album maybe. Or maybe even one each on the next two albums. Hard to say.

Here's to hoping a proper anthology will be released. Maybe when Brian and Roger are too old and tired to do any tours with flavour-of-the-month singers. I'd so much rather have unfinished demos in good quality (or any quality) than bullshit remixes or simply re-releases of the same tracks.

Well, there are 3 greatest hits, 1 platinum collection and another one with Hits 1&2, 1 greatest hits off the hits ("absolute best") 1 Rocks, lots of Deep Cuts and now Forever, I think we dont need any "proper" anthology, there's plenty of them.

As for the demos, you can find here lots and lots of demos in different quality.
Queen: Roger Taylor, Mike Grose, Freddie Mercury, Brian May.

Generally, I think 'anthology' here is supposed to refer to a release in the same vein as The Beatles' - a collection of demos, alternate takes, live versions and such. QZ users have often referred to such a hypothetical release.
